I think I’ll continue to process this in waves. I woke up this morning thinking about the crying baby I pulled to hide with me behind the sign, the cops yelling DON’T LET HIM IN as a shooter tried to get into union station, a lady standing on a cooler to try to bring some calm.
One of the wildest parts ab yesterday is that bc cell service was so bad, I was getting updates about what was happening from friends who weren’t there. I learned that there was a shooter from screenshots sent to me from Twitter. So I don’t know what’s happening as I’m living it.
Our hearts are broken for our listener Vince who got a call from his sister. Four members of their family were shot at the parade. Two are critical, including one of the kids.
Omg I was at the rally and the shooting. I was inside when everybody started running so I started running. I barricaded behind a large sign with like 15 other traumatized people. I’m ok—this is hands down the scariest thing I’ve ever experienced.

Thank you @MPH_KCMO for your leadership in this project.
I’m beyond excited for these Commissions’ work.

On Thursday, I asked my colleagues to reimagine our youth engagement strategy by creating The KC Futures Commission. I’m proposing a funded KC Futures Office, a Youth Commission & Young Adult Commission. Age ranges are 13-25. The ordinance will be heard in NPD on 1/23 at 1:30pm.
I would like to thank Total Man CDC and Teamsters Local 41 for helping put together the Toy Shop benefiting Impact Missouri! This is the 2nd year we have hosted this event at the Brush Creek Community Center. 1/2
Now hearing testimony from economists from the Show Me Institute. They are saying that this ordinance will lead to fewer landlords participating in the housing market. They also suggest that KC look to Minneapolis as an example of how to produce more affordable housing.
