A semi-colon is used when an author could've ended a sentence but continued. The author is me, the sentence is my life. Glad I survived after years of darkness and hopelessness. Those thoughts still return but they no longer control me.

Groomed, abused and raped at 6yrs old by a known paedophile. Finding the strength to face him in court all those yrs later, to find he had changed his name multiple times to re-offend.

Thinking it would be all over when he was sentenced to 22yrs in prison.
