One thing I’ve been realizing while building both the website and mobile app is how much everything gets easier when the structure is done right early.
Small decisions now can make the whole system feel a lot simpler later.
#BuildInPublic#Startups
We’ve adjusted our launch timing after focusing on improving the core experience.
For me, the key lesson has been simple: shipping fast matters, but shipping something stable matters more early on.
Building Beavy has shown me how many amazing local food businesses still rely on word-of-mouth.
Great food is everywhere.
Discovering it is often the hard part.
@marclou I disagree.
Free users can actually be a win‑win for startups. They help validate demand, expose friction points, and highlight where the product needs improvement. The only real risk is designing a free tier that’s too open and allows people to exploit the platform.
@LessonsFromProd @BeavyOfficial Appreciate your feedback.
Early trust is everything for local makers. Keeping the app simple and lean is our highest priority. That is why we follow the "one app, one UI" rule for buyers/sellers.
8 weeks until App launch.
My goal for @BeavyOfficial is simple: Strip back the friction so local makers can get discovered in < 2 minutes.
- No high commissions.
- No DM chaos.
- Easy to use.
When our sellers grow, we grow. 🇨🇦#BuildInPublic#ShopLocal#Brantford
Brantford is the Founding City for Beavy.
We’re ending "DM chaos" & high commissions for local food makers.
Brantford Makers: Get listed in our directory in <2 mins and secure your spot for early access https://t.co/k3fbEidvTE
Not in Brantford?👇🏽

Since joining @IndieHackers, one surprising lesson from building @BeavyOfficial:
Most of my “brilliant” features failed hard. The ones that worked were simple, boring, and solved one painful problem really well.
What’s your story?
#IndieHackers#startup
I've found Lean methodologies surprisingly helpful for solo development.
Lean helps cut waste by focusing only on what actually matters. Focusing on users' actual needs is ultimately saving time and cost.
Chaotic solo days are slowly becoming more focused and productive.
The Beavy Founders Circle is now open for 🇨🇦 local food creators.
🎇Perks:
- Gain early access
- enhanced visibility
- promotion across the Beavy website & social channels
- priority onboarding

🚨COUNTERFEIT CURRENCY ALERT🚨
We are investigating several incidents where counterfeit Canadian bills were used during online buy-and-sell meetups in Cambridge throughout March 2026.
In each case, sellers met with a buyer after arranging a sale for electronic devices.
The buyer paid in cash, which was later found to be counterfeit.

@OntarioPotatoes@FarmFoodCareON Really enjoying these Ontario potato insights.
It’s great to see a local staple get the recognition it deserves. Supporting what’s grown here at home matters, and it’s always interesting to learn something new about the ingredients we rely on every day.
@FounderEric Congratulations on the $24.5M Series B, Mappedin team.🔥
As founder of Beavy, it's encouraging to see strong Canadian innovation from Waterloo scaling on the global stage.
Thank you for building with Canada first.🇨🇦
Proud to cheer you on.
Good news for local bakers🥯🧁🥪🍞🥐🥖
FCC 2026 Report:
key input prices like canola and hogs are expected to ease this year! This should bring some margin relief for the bakery sector after tough times.

Happy Easter Canada! 🐇🇨🇦
Hope this long weekend is full of family, chocolate, and zero work stress. 🐣🍫🧺
New thing I learned while building stuff: I can code websites that actually work... but I still can't spell to save my life.🤣

🔥🍽️Kitchen hit a snag!🍽️🔥
I spent hours trying to add accurate location for the users to the app, but it kept crashing📉. Still working through the debugging.
It reminded me how vital simple, reliable tools and apps are for busy Canadian food creators and food explorers.🍩🌽
