@KrishnaGathwal I am very eager to see where virtual reality technology goes for learning purposes. Maybe it can do what no other learning tech has been able to do yet. #6010a3
It seems as if all learning theories can work with technology in the right circumstances. The inverse seems true also. I am still skeptical of learning theories that truly support the use of technology rather than theories that are merely compatible with the use of tech. #6010a3
@courtdlcftworth I am enjoying the comment thread about PBL, and am glad that schools are moving toward it if for no other reason that it is something different from the usual test prep classes. #6010a3
@TDavisUNT I find the zone of proximal development theory to be intriguing. Being able to map out learning from one point to another is really the way to cultivate a desire of lifelong learning in a student by showing how learning occurs by degrees. (no college degree pun intended) #6010a3
@VertigoRay@constatively That's a good point. There are bound to be instances when technology really does improve learning conditions. Eraut's discussion of greater access to learning opportunities for the public and for people with disabilities are good examples of how progress is possible. #6010a2
@JMSinAustin That does seem to be the case. Corporations making money hand over fist seem to be the ones driving the need for technology in education these days. It may have been a government agenda in the past, but not so much now. #6010a2
@TDavisUNT It IS vexing. How can we get to the information society Eraut described if technology only brings new learning problems and not new levels of learning? It makes me wonder if transhumanism could be the answer. Learning implants, anyone? #6010a2
@ROBODAVISWFISD It is a challenging issue! I used to read futuristic novels where emotions could be transmitted via technology along with images and sounds. If the rate of innovation continues, we'll get there eventually #6010a2
@Gigemags11@constatively@TDavisUNT@AubreyRieder It took me time as a writing instructor to come around to technology. I had to shift from an instructor who frowns at phone use to sending texts to remind students of assignments. More and more teachers will come around. Those that don't will have employment issues #6010a2
@constatively Our brains are still wired for close conversations. Learning technology can lead to a need to process extraneous information on the part of the learner which bogs down the instruction. Taking advantage of the theories behind technology use can lead to positive results. #6010a2
