Remember, #edtech often looks cool and fun.
It might even “engage” kids. But just because we see kids having fun or engaged doesn’t actually mean high quality learning is taking place.
We must always know the why and what’s the benefit with it.

My mom loved using picture books in her lessons. I loved finding some of her books and seeing (in the second photo here) that she would leave notes for herself for how she used it in a lesson. #sparksinthedark
A5 - I dream of a school where the climate and culture are so positive and welcoming that everyone is excited to walk through the front door. EVERYONE. Basic needs are met, relationships are built & maintained and then amazing learning and growth will occur. #MEMSPAchat
A8 - Continuing to collaborate with colleagues & brainstorm ideas to build capacity for all the initiatives we have going. Educating and inspiring others is one thing, but supporting implementation is another. We must build capacity and offer support! That’s the goal! #MEMSPAchat
Blended Learning provides all learners the ability and opportunity to contribute both openly and differently
Is it just tech integration or true blended learning? Here’s how to tell: https://t.co/55Z3VBTX5Q #edchat#edtech
For 20 years Ontario has had an over-reliance on large-scale standardized tests. Today's report moves the needle to reflect changing attitudes.
Authentic assessment is not achieved through a static EQAO test but through the ongoing professional judgement of the classroom teacher
Not sure how this is supposed to help my kid understand multiplication or even get better at memorizing answers without understanding.
He’s skipping the ones he doesn’t know well because he’s being timed.
Counter Productive!!!
Don't you just love it when three members of staff are getting excited about reading children's literature. This has promoted reading so much in my classroom.
I don't know if this already happens but I like the idea of a teachers children's literature meet up type event where people share books they love, ways they have used them in the classroom etc with a fee speakers, authors etc. Grassroots type setup like GroundEd not RR scale
Teachers need to spend much more time modeling student thinking before asking students to do it. If students don't know how to model their thinking, they tend to draw pictures that are less sophisticated than their thinking. @pwharris#CAMT19
