Pope Leo XIV on war in Iran:
"I think this has already been made very clear: the notion of a just war no longer applies. The problem is that just war theory developed in centuries when no one could have imagined the weapons we have today or humanity's capacity for destruction."
@OblOsb10 As I stated. I don’t like the logic big guy. Washington is moving into the district actually…and also you can be a fan of a team without living in the city. For example, Bears fans are in Chicago but the play in fucking Hammond Indiana now.
I hate this logic. The Bears did not have to leave the state. They had options even if Soldier Field wasn’t the move anymore. It’s a fair hit to point out they left the state for more tax money.
34 minutes is… not that far away in a city the size of Chicago.
Also, the Jets, Giants, Chiefs, and Commanders all play in stadiums over the border. So stop acting like this is the apocalypse.
@BeardownBlues Finally a logical response! Yes they took the option that made them the most money. I think some things maybe should matter a bit more, a the NFL should have stepped in because this is horrible for them too.
@SingleBearel They don’t own the stadium in Indiana…so idk what that even means. They COULD own Arlington Park which is at least in state but they didn’t want to because the tax was too high. Indiana was willing to pony up more and charge less in tax while giving them 100% revenue.
@ScottyBeeIsMe I’ve read this three times now and it hasn’t changed anything. The Bears make 100% revenue off the stadium. Rent goes to the state until they get tax dollars back (40 years) and the bears get to buy the stadium. Plus the Infrastructure needed for this is 100% city/state paid.
@tak6tak I get that, and it’s a thing because we will all still go to games, support the team, and blame our city officials for not paying the piper. I do believe it won’t change but we can hope it does and call it what it is…
@tak6tak Hammond Indiana doesn’t have the infrastructure costs that Chicago has because Chicago is 10x the size. I understand the point you are making, the assessment process sucks. But the facts remain. Indiana didn’t offer better tax assessment for free, they put in more public money.
@tak6tak You just said they shouldn’t spend tax dollars on a stadium. Thats what Hammond and Indiana did! Idk what your point even is to be honest. That Chicago has bad roads? Maybe but I promise that’s not the issue.
@Back9Ben I do get that, I’m a Jets fan so my team does it also. The difference is NYC doesn’t have the room, and the history isn’t as deep. Idk fees like this is a bad move.
@tak6tak Huh? They went to Indy because they got sudsidies out the ass! The state and city weren’t predatory. They offered a package and the Bears Organization decided to go where they got the most tax dollars for the project.
