A year ago, I thought cooling interventions were sci-fi. Something for 2050 if things got really bad. Today my piece on @SRM360_org explains why I was wrong.
Thread on what changed my mind 🧵
While modern science has many flaws, it is one of those few things we can point to as a society and say that this, *this*, is what already makes us great. https://t.co/WyaYivBvky
The Senate is getting real creative finding ways to wreck Americans’ jobs, health, atmosphere and power bills with “the biggest job-killing bill in the history of this country” https://t.co/HYMqOOsKGn
owocki, tell me about the coolest new experiment in gitcoin grants 23.
GG23 will feature an experiment (by @dwddao ) in configurable AI politicians - basically different AI politicians which represent different constituencies that battle out how to distribute a $25k matching pool.
each AI politician is completely configurable via github (and we can debate configurations via github issues/pull requests)
the tooling for the round will make it super easy to explore different valuesets.
as the round progresses, well be able to see how each AI agent gains/loses support over time.
in gg23, there is scheduled to be a $25k funding pool distributed to open source projects via this mechanism.
we'll be able to see how the votes change over time.
i think this is a great practical example of @VitalikButerin 's vision of "AI as the engine, humans as the steering wheel". cant wait to see what we learn!
Scientific data is messy—can Web3 fix that? 🔬
Join us at #FtCSF on Mar 15-16 to hear from @RRansil of @Devonian_ai on building a global operating system for science—using Web3 to make research reproducible, verifiable, and impactful.

@richcollins@HermanPontzer If you want to build a parallel system to fund science, do it and scale it up. (Again, lots of great effort on this already!) But we shouldn’t dismantle the thing we know works as a first step
@richcollins@HermanPontzer Just letting wealthy people fund science is a recipe for massive underinvestment and backsliding. Essentially every tech breakthrough in the last 75 years has relied on taxpayer funded research.
Asinine & misleading as expected. I checked projects for my univ: this is excellent science. Proposals note potential societal benefits (as required!) but aren't 'woke'. Cruz knows this and doesn't care. We will all lose if this science is chopped. https://t.co/5MqBgV6l2Q
