The vicious cycle of American foreign policy:
1) Hawks start wars in far-flung corners of globe.
2) Defense contractors get paid.
3) American soldiers die.
4) Contractors lobby for more money.
5) The defense budget grows.
6) America withdraws.
7) Repeat.
If the GOP is so concerned about our debt, perhaps they should roll back the $1,900,000,000,000 tax cut they engineered in 2017 for corporations and the super-rich.
Reminder: Mitch McConnell and Republicans in Congress had no problem with Trump adding $7 trillion-plus to the debt in one term.
Their hypocrisy is staggering.
In just the last month's time:
- temperatures of 121° in British Columbia
- wildfires burning across the United States
- deadly flooding in China and in Europe
- drought throughout more than 95% of the American West
But bold action on climate is 'extreme'? Give me a break.
If you’re one of the 39 million households receiving their first Child Tax Credit payment today, don’t forget that every single Republican voted against it.
Your reminder that of the 700 Republicans who have filed paperwork to run for Congress next year, at least a third have backed Trump's baseless claim that he won the 2020 election. This is what it means to be a Republican now.
The corporate oligarchy has brainwashed this country into thinking we cannot afford a living wage for workers, or a Green New Deal, or child care, or expanded unemployment benefits, or guaranteed health care.
They're wrong. What we cannot afford is inaction.
A statistic worth spreading widely. In studies, American participants almost always drastically underestimate the extent of wealth disparity in the U.S.
The reality now is that we are living in an oligarchic society.
The top 1% owns more wealth than the bottom 92%. Over the last 30 years, the top 1%'s wealth has increased by $21 trillion while the bottom half's declined.
Is that the kind of country we are satisfied with?
The U.S. government didn't even consider Black people to be people on July 4, 1776.
Paying reparations to reckon with the lasting legacy of slavery is not radical. It's essential.
89% of Democrats & 79% of Republicans support expanding Medicare to include dental, hearing & vision care.
86% of Democrats & 70% of Republicans support providing seniors with home health care.
This is what real bipartisanship looks like, even if all Republicans in DC vote no.
