The push back on today's "Gina giving Elon our land" narrative.

It's not 'giving away Australian land' it's offering undeveloped, sparsely populated islands at no cost for specific commercial use, exactly as Gina Rinehart said: 'offer to Elon ... at no cost for his SpaceX satellite construction and launches.' Australia retains full sovereignty.

SpaceX gets operational access while Queensland gets jobs, infrastructure, tech investment, launch tourism, and defence benefits in an allied nation.

This is standard government practice, not radical:

Regional councils (e.g. Quilpie Shire and multiple outback towns) have run "free land" schemes, literally giving away residential blocks or refunding the full land cost to anyone who builds and lives there to attract population and growth.

Governments routinely grant long term mining leases and exploration tenements over vast public land to foreign companies at low/no upfront cost, in exchange for royalties and development.

The Northern Territory Government leased the entire Port of Darwin on a 99 year lease to a Chinese owned company.

Queensland and federal programs (NAIF loans up to 100% debt financing, Infrastructure Activation Funds, tax incentives, and surplus land activation) regularly provide free/subsidised land access, grants, or zero/low cost infrastructure to unlock housing, mining, defence, and industry projects.

Calling a time limited operational arrangement for high tech development a 'sovereignty giveaway' is pure hysteria and leftist cope.

If the same logic applied to every mining lease, port deal, defence land divestment, or regional growth incentive, Australia would have no mines, no ports, and no regional economy.

How about we stick to a debate on the merits of jobs, growth and strategic capability versus empty rocks instead of fear mongering over routine economic incentives.

I've been on a numbers kick lately and thought I'd let everyone know that across all residential homes with electricity connected, we pay over $6 billion in quartly average electricity bills. ($450-$500/bill)

That's $24 billion shipped offshore each year, plus the $44.3 billion the federal govt hand over on top of what we consumers pay.

In short, electricity costs the household and tax payer approximately $68 billion dollars a year.
