@onegospel2021 Every day is a gift. Knowing that our days are numbered, and that God is in control, gave me peace when I faced a cancer diagnosis. I thank him for each day I have breath, no matter what is going on. Praying that for you.
America faces more than a chronic disease epidemic that threatens our physical health. We also face a spiritual malaise that undermines our mental health.
Our children are increasingly isolated, fragmented, and anxious, spending more than 8.5 hours a day on screens.
This summer, put down the phone and reconnect with nature, family, and community. It's time to Take Back Your Health. Eat Real Food. Get Active. Together, we will Make America Healthy Again.
On March 31, 2010, a 13 yr old Muslim girl named Elham Mahdi al-Assi was forced into an arranged marriage with Abed al-Hikmi, age 23, in the Hajjah province of Yemen.
The first night, Elham resisted al-Hikmi’s sexual advances. On the second day, he visited a clinic in an effort to get some tranquilizers so that he could drug her into cooperating, but was refused.
That night, al-Hikmi tied Elham to the bed and raped her so brutally that the next day she was unable to walk. Dr. Fathiya Haidar, who worked at the clinic al-Hikmi grudgingly took her to, later told journalists that Elham had suffered “significant injuries,” and that she had ordered al-Hikmi to leave Elham alone for at least ten days.
It was an order that al-Hikmi ignored.
On 2 April, three days after her marriage, Elham Mahdi al-Assi died from severe internal bleeding. A post-mortem examination made it clear that al-Hikmi had raped her again after the visit to the clinic, even more violently than before.
International outcry was enormous, but as Yemeni law has no minimum age for marriage, and marital rape is perfectly legal, Elham’s rapist-husband was not charged with any crime. Yemeni leaders refused to implement any minimum age for marriage, saying that doing so would violate Sharia principles — and so of course it happened again.
In 2013, an 8 year old girl named Rawan was forcibly married to a 40 yr old man, also in Hajjah province. On the wedding night, he raped her so brutally that he ruptured her uterus. She was rushed to a clinic, but could not be saved, and died from shock and blood loss.
Again, international condemnation followed. The Yemeni government tried to deny that the girl had died, or that any wedding had taken place, but activists from the Yemen House of Folklore insisted that the events had occurred as reported.
The Yemeni government then tried to parade another girl in front of cameras, claiming that she was Rawan and was unharmed, but journalists and activists alike have stated that this was a sham. Once again, no one was arrested, and no charges were filed.
Elhan and Rawan were little girls. They deserved a chance to grow up, to become the women they were meant to be. Instead, their parents sold them off to be raped to death by grown men who had absolutely no business being anywhere near them.
The laws of Yemen are atrocious. Elhan and Rawan are not the only girls who have been raped to death. They’re just the only ones we’ve heard of.
And this, too, is Islam.
Elizabeth Warren lives in one of America’s wealthiest towns—yet thousands of children there go hungry.
Her wealth could feed every hungry child there for 5 years and eradicate local childhood hunger.
There are currently 190,000 children in Chicago living below the poverty level.
For the price of the $900 million Obama library, we could have given each one of these poor children in Chicago $4,736.
Am I doing this right?
It is not a stretch to say that the Senate should devote additional time to pass the SAVE America Act
A majority of the Senate supports it, and we owe it to the American people—who want secure elections—to make filibustering Democrats work a lot harder if they want to stop it
@HunterBiden Hunter Biden worrying about the White House as a sacred space wasn't on my bingo card. The gross behavior promoted and celebrated by the Biden admin, Jill's bizarre Christmas video, and Hunter's own debauchery don't exactly endow that family with moral authority (or good taste).
A man can take hormones, wear lipstick, grow his hair out, buy high heels, and change his name. He will still never be a woman. Men are men. Women are women. Lgbtq propaganda can’t change biology.
Nuking the filibuster is NOT the only way to pass the SAVE America Act
We could pass it if we took up the bill again and agreed to keep debating it until it passes, eating into weekends and recesses as necessary
This used to be THE way to break a filibuster—and it’d work here
The two most important things President Trump’s administration should be working on right now are
deporting as many illegal aliens as humanly possible
& passing the SAVE America Act.
Attach SAVE America Act to FISA.
Attach SAVE America Act to NDAA.
Attach SAVE America Act to budget reconciliation 3.0.
Attach SAVE America Act to everything until it passes.
🚨 SHOCKING: VP JD Vance just called out the Senate’s cowardice on the SAVE America Act.
John Thune says they “don’t have the votes” and wants to bury it by tying it to FISA. Vance’s response:“One of the things that sometimes frustrates me about the legislative process is that people will go into it saying, ‘This isn't possible, therefore we're not even going to try.’ Well, let's actually see. Let's try it. And if it's not possible, then let the people put their name on it.” Force the vote.
Make every Senator go on the record. No more hiding. No more excuses. No more “it’s impossible” before they even try.
The American people deserve to know exactly who is fighting to stop non-citizens from voting… and who is protecting the loopholes. Hold the damn vote, Thune.
The fact that CNN investigated, then tested the color and quality of the Reflecting Pool water more than the billions in fraud happening in states like Minnesota and California should tell you everything you need to know about the hacks that they are.
There used to be a two party system separated by ideology but unified in respect for the law and proliferation of shared American values.
Now there are no shared values. It’s just the people that like America vs the people that want to destroy it.
SAVE ACT: There are 50+1 votes in the Senate to pass the Save America Act via reconciliation or by forcing Democrats to obstruct via talking filibuster. Thune doesn’t want to pass the bill, period.
