@jazzish Secret third thing! I live (a) relatively near the hospital and (b) in a town where there's only one hospital, so it's pretty easy to tell if the ambulance is going toward the hospital or not.
@duckgirlie@katiegeeks I've read three of them now. This one was an enjoyable ride, I loved The Guest List (the first one I read), and I was kind of meh on The Hunting Party. I have read a lot of thrillers in the past few years, and she is doing exactly what the genre is doing.
@duckgirlie@katiegeeks I read a Lucy Foley today (The Midnight Feast) and because of this thread, I paid attention when we found out who the person whose body was found at the beginning is: 90% of the way into the book.
Actual conversation as they talk about getting takeout for dinner:
TK: You pick.
Carlos: I always pick.
TK: You like to pick.
Carlos: I do like to pick.
Maybe I don't need fic to enjoy the d/s-y vibes of this relationship.
Eddie: Walks out of the hospital room between two lines of his coworkers after Shannon dies.
Me: Why are they not hugging him?
Bobby: Comes in through the door.
Eddie: Walks right into Bobby's arms.
Me: Oh, okay, he needed a dad hug.
Eddie is my favorite because he has a very expressive face. The problem is that while I can see exactly the face he would make in the situation I'm writing, I have no idea how to describe it.
I think enough people have moved that I'm joining the exodus to the other place, same username. I will still check in here because I know some of you are only here. <3
This is the ongoing thread for books I've read in 2024 that you might like. I will do my best to include content notes (CN) where/as I remember/notice them, but they may be incomplete. As always, DM/email me if you want to know more.
The Other Mothers by Katherine Faulkner was a fun British investigative reporter/mom becomes friends with rich mothers of young children and maybe they're related to the crime she's investigating novel. CN: terrible men.
I have given up on reading fic for the shows I'm watching and instead last night I read a bunch of sexting fic about Batman-related characters who I don't know and don't want to know anything about. Any other suggestions for fun fic I can read without knowing the fandom?
