When Ezri Konsa scored Aston Villa’s third goal, Villa Park began to dream.
Unai Emery’s underdogs had come back from 5-1 down on aggregate to go within one goal of taking Paris Saint-Germain to extra-time in Champions League quarter-finals.
The last time Aston Villa played in Europe's elite club competition, it was 1983 and it was called the European Cup.
And that’s what makes their journey, and agonisingly valiant exit, all the more remarkable.
Villa fans did not take one moment of their campaign for granted. For each of Villa Park’s six home matches against Europe’s elite, the stadium was transformed into a claret colosseum, municipal tifo displays dressed in the fog of fireworks.
Bayern Munich, Bologna, Juventus, Celtic, Club Brugge and PSG all came, and all bar Juventus tasted defeat on the night.
And yet it was the Villa’s most striking victory, a 3-2 win against PSG - Ligue 1 champions, on a 16-match away winning run - after going two goals down, that broke Villa hearts the most.
Villa could not find that fourth goal, and departed the Champions League losing 5-4 on aggregate to their formidable French opponents.
Villa’s European dream is over for this season, but the memories of 2024/25 will only inspire more.
Keir Starmer has just admitted on a tweet that he is now in partnership with Blackrock.
For those of you who still haven't got a clue what's happening, I implore you to watch this video.
@reels85 Looks like Dana has blocked that though. Said if Jones fights again it’s Aspinall or no one! I think Jon knows this and just creating more drama around it to sell.

City attempted 2 shots in this match; the fewest ever by a Pep Guardiola team in a game within Europe’s big-five leagues, while the 22 shots from Aston Villa was the joint-most faced by a Guardiola side in the same period (tonight his 535th such game). Dominated.

Wow!! @AspinallMMA told me after the fight that he injured his back and as a result wasn’t able to train for the last 10 days. I asked him when he knew he’d be able to fight and he said “tonight.” Really puts into even greater context what he accomplished! Congrats champ 🙌🏻 #ufc295
