@RealBlackIrish "Together, these individuals transformed a fringe, taboo issue into a mainstream political debate...More than 11 million abortions have been performed in the UK since the Abortion Act 1967 came into effect."
Thanks a lot.
‘No motive power operated more universally on this Continent, or in the beautiful island of Tasmania, and certainly no motive power operated more powerfully in dissolving the technical and arbitrary political divisions which previously separated us than the desire that we should be one people, and remain one people, without the admixture of other races.’
- 2nd Prime Minister of Australia, Alfred Deakin
Yes, without Britain, there would be no steam engine, steam trains, telephones, parliamentarism, modern constitutionalism, English as the lingua france, penicillin, end of the slave trade, ATMs, logarithms, Shakespeare, the theory of evolution and so much more.
In 1000 years, once we have gotten over neurotic jealously and third worlidsm, people will look at Britain with more admiration than we look at Ancient Greece today. It is quite evidently the greatest nation the world has ever seen. It's not even particularly close.
'What a Crazy World' is a rare British pop-musical made in 1963 that is set in London's working-class East End. The title song and other musical numbers were filmed at the Beaconsfield Buildings, a large Victorian tenement estate located in Islington, North London (just off Caledonian Road and Bingfield Street). Entertainment or not, this really is a brilliant view into what's now another world. ⏳️
America is a fundamentally British nation. The United States was founded by British settlers and the signatories of the Declaration of Independence were almost all of British descent. The more Americans who recognise this important part of their history the better.
@1968Tv Football was hijacked and politicised in the 90s which is why 1990 is the last real world cup and why old clips from the domestic league also seem so very different.
It was magical but it's not any more.
@adonispara Ian Smith was a British legend, along with the rest of the Rhodesian patriots.
"World War I: Around 20% of the white settler population (6,115 out of 30,000) served, one of the highest percentages in the British Empire.
WWII: Roughly 16.7% (11,000 out of 66,000) served."
Some of the British heroes who righteously put down a third worldist putsch.
"Connolly, a leader of the Rising, was a convinced Marxist..The Irish Citizen Army, known as Europe's "first Red Army," was a socialist militia...Vladimir Lenin defended it"
