@Ahhmandah Come to Wellington, Te Papa is open until 6 every night and City Gallery does an after hours party every month with food trucks and live music all evening
@Tzcttwit@LimmiePulliam @MichaelSumuel Most opera companies aren’t ensemble companies - they fly in their principal artists, who specialize in certain types of roles. You might have a tenor who exclusively sings Wagner, or a soprano who pretty much just sings Tosca on repeat in different opera houses worldwide.
@plainricedinner I chose to come back to Te Whanganui-a-Tara after 9yrs overseas. Wellington isn’t looking too flash at the moment, it’s true. But I’ve also seen it in the midst of a cultural and economic upswing (in the early 2000s) and it’s amazing. So I’m hanging on and waiting…
@hroethgar Corporate sponsorship of the arts is almost nonexistent these days. State Insurance once had naming rights of the Opera House. Westpac had the St James. And for a long time, our national opera company was The NBR New Zealand Opera. Wild!
@StephDyhrberg This one was weird! I had zero letters come up in the first two goes, so had to make a sharp comeback. Wordle 375 4/6

@RuzhyoX@culturaltutor This isn’t true of interior design though - it’s considerably cheaper these days to buy good quality mahogany furniture secondhand than IKEA, because the mahogany isn’t in vogue. People choose cheap minimalism because of the way Pinterest/Instagram have homogenized taste.
