Take a moment – you’ve been rushing around between Christmas soirees with family and friends & your NYE looks like a big one. Plan some extra rest breaks in your trip and regularly change drivers if you can. #Roadsafety#driverfatigue@ACRS_RoadSafety@NRSPPaus@SarahGroup
If you are thinking about making #NYE2023 an epic night, there’s a few things you should work into your party planning. Alcohol leaves the body slowly which means there’s a chance you could still be over the limit the next day. Pick up your vehicle later in the day.🧵
Driving while you're tired doesn’t begin the minute you finish loading up the car and set off for your New Year’s break. Let’s be realistic here - December is exhausting.
you know how to safely change a tyre (or know the phone number of the auto club)
If you have a space saver tyre, know they are temporary and not meant to be driven at highway speeds. #RoadSafety#tyres
#Potholes can damage tyres, wheels, and suspensions and can be especially hazardous for motorcycles and bicycles.
As well as driving safely, now is a good time make sure:
your spare tyre is inflated
you know where your jack is located

This week, May 16 to 22 is National Road Safety Week (#NationalRoadSafetyWeek) in Australia. It is also National Volunteer Week (#nvw2022)
Some may see this as an unfortunate scheduling clash, but we see it as the alignment of a perfect pair.🧵
Grassroots road safety advocates freely volunteer their time to make the roads safer for everyone.
As Volunteering Australia says, “Together, through volunteering, we are changing communities for the better. We are, Better Together.”
#Easter2022 lf you travel interstate this holiday period check out the rest areas in all states of Australia at https://t.co/wln0mipMTD. Plan your rest breaks before you leave home so you can arrive alive.
If you see water on the road - you have one job. Turn around and find another way. The watery depths could be hiding any number of hazards. Never drive through, walk ride or play in flood waters. #nswfloods@NSWSES@BOM_NSW
If you want to know more about talking to your kids about road safety around schools this link is helpful. #backtoschool#RoadSafety

These lights mean a couple of things.
1) School and school zones are officially back for everyone.
2) They should also be a reminder to talk to younger road users in your life about what you expect from them when you’re all travelling to or from school.
Slow down when travelling on suburban streets. People and animals are unpredictable. Ask yourself what you would do if Rudolph appeared in front of your car looking for Santa and his sleigh?
Kudos to the Bott & Hunter families, Country Women's Association (NSW) along with many other organisations in bringing the Level Crossing Safety petition to debate in NSW Parliament this week. Level Crossing Safety - the task is challenging but not impossible. #railsafety
