We are looking to hire two tenure track faculty at the @BardCollege@BardBiology program! We are looking for people with a broad realm of expertise that will add new dimensions to an exciting group of researchers and educators! Please share! https://t.co/S74IDdAFvl
Excited to have started our January intensive research project with students from @BardCollege and @SUNY_Dutchess this week! Looking forward to learning, collaborating, and having a fun January doing research!
Minnesota can be cold, but we protect the rights of all people.
My lab is hiring at all levels for folks interested in Polyploidy, Aneuploidy, and Drug Resistance.
We welcome computational and experimental researchers from diverse backgrounds.
Please email me and retweet!
Hot of the press from our lab (or let’s face it, from @NickGervais12), a dive into the fungal “hidden genome” and all the amazing things that lurk there!
How do yeasts resist oxidative stress? We used machine learning to identify gene families that are predictive of ROS resistance across the yeast subphylum.

And PS - I am the cheapest human on the Earth and I am trying to break myself of wasting 3 months of work instead of just buying the damn kit/equipment/etc.
Microbiology / Genetics / Genomics faculty: when starting your lab, what did you regret buying with your startup and what items do you regret NOT buying?

Major thank you to @AnnaSelmecki and @talbotlabTSL for putting on an amazing #FungalGRC2024. My head and heart are so full from the cool science and wonderful community.
Where do you post job announcements?
SACNAS, GSA, and others all assume I have $500 to spend for a few weeks on their job boards.
I want to reach applicants but so far have not found many viable options. #help

Super excited to meet up with many of my favorite fungal people next month! There are still a few spots available- registration deadline is this Sunday! There are many fantastic speakers and more will be selected from the poster abstracts, so get yours submitted today.
-Omics friends, how are you storing and retrieving your data? I have external hard drive copies and Google Drive copies, but I feel like there has to be a better, quicker option. Has anyone tried AWS or other cloud services that you would recommend?
Our new paper in @MolBioEvol suggests that #aneuploidy can be an *evolutionary diversion* on the path to adaptation rather than a stepping stone.

Microbiology friends - does anyone have an idea where you can find the flat toothpicks for streaking out colonies/patching? I have searched high and low and no luck yet. Any leads deeply appreciated!
Very happy to share that I will be starting as a TT Assistant Professor in Biology at Bard College starting this fall! Our group will focus on molecular mechanisms of adaptation, particularly in current and emerging fungal pathogens.
