It was one of the greatest honors of my life to represent the Diocese of Tulsa as a deacon today for Pope Leo XIV at the Sunday mass for Jubilee of Families, Children, Grandparents, and The Elderly.

Beautiful words on family life from Pope Leo XIV's Homily:

"...Today’s world needs the marriage covenant in order to know and accept God’s love and to defeat, thanks to its unifying and reconciling power, the forces that break down relationships and societies.

For this reason, with a heart filled with gratitude and hope, I would remind all married couples that marriage is not an ideal but the measure of true love between a man and a woman: a love that is total, faithful and fruitful. This love makes you one flesh and enables you, in the image of God, to bestow the gift of life..."

I greeted the Holy Father before mass on behalf of the whole @DioceseofTulsa, and shared with him that we are all praying for him and his ministry.

He asked if I went to Cascia Hall... "No Your Holiness, I went to the other Catholic high school in the Diocese..." "What was that one called again?" he asked me...I said "Bishop Kelley High School" "right, Bishop Kelley."

Happy Feast of St. Agnes! The tradition on this feast is that the Pope Leo is presented with two lambs to be blessed.

Their wool is woven into palliums for new metropolitan archbishops.

I got to pet them later after he blessed them. 🐑 🐑

We had a special visitor come by the parish before Christmas. He told us “This Church and you all are a major reason why this happened.”

Merry Christmas from St. Peter’s Basilica! My first Christmas as a priest and I got to concelebrate Christmas mass with his Holiness Pope Leo XIV!

"It is the birth of Jesus, Emmanuel. In the Son made man, God gives us nothing less than his very self, in order to “redeem us from all iniquity and purify for himself a people of his own” (Titus 2:14). Born in the night is the One who redeems us from the night. The hint of the dawning day is no longer to be sought in the distant reaches of the cosmos, but by bending low, in the stable nearby.’

It was such a privilege to concelebrate mass for the Solemnity of All Saints with his Holiness Pope Leo XIV this morning, and to witness his declaration of St. John Henry Newman as the newest Doctor of the Church!

“We can say, then, that from a Christian perspective education helps everyone to become saints. Nothing less will do. Pope Benedict XVI, on his Apostolic Journey to Great Britain in September 2010, during which he beatified John Henry Newman, invited young people to become saints with these words: “What God wants most of all for each one of you is that you should become holy. He loves you much more than you could ever begin to imagine.”
