Two-tier justice is practiced openly in Canada, where a judge sentenced a truck driver who killed a 12-year old girl and permanently brain-damaged her mother while driving drunk at 90 in a 50 zone to just 2-years of house arrest. The judge cited colonization as a causal factor in the Indigenous driver's alcoholism and thus in his alcohol-related killing of a 12-year old girl.

It's hard not to witness this and despair as the reductio ad absurdum of the practice of taking racial identity into account in criminal sentencing moves toward becoming the modal case -- race literally on its way to being a license to kill with minimal consequence.
