@johnwalker_1986 I think there’s an argument that even style aside we aren’t getting the best version of these players at tournaments? McGinn / McTominay burnt out after long season at high level. Gunn/Hickey/Robbo/NatPat/BGD undercooked

@scotball_ I’d also put Aaron Hickey in that BGD category of needing more minutes in the legs even if as a sub!

@scotball_ @scotsunsport Agree with Clarke but would still start BGD for his pace & directness. If we play at least 1 big guy up top, Hickey, McGinn, Robbo & Christie will get lots of quality ball into the box; BGD is a different outlet. And if he’s not doing the ‘full Gvardiol’ then FC is a great Plan B

@AndyBurke_ Lennon Miller - there is no like-for-like replacement IMO so good opportunity to slant the squad a shade more attacking knowing Christie and McGinn can cover that CM position

@FinMorrison @LeinsterClub Good shout — also strategy seems to be for Stephen, Duncan, Urwin, Ventisei, Watson et al to step up and replace departing guys next season so SA tour great chance for them to show they are ready even if not involved in SF

@QuadeCooper Quade I love the innovation but won’t this create situations where a knock on basically turns into a guaranteed try if it’s near their own line and oppo is guaranteed next touch (esp. with a run up) — or at very least where lots of cynical penalties are given away?

@AndyBurke_ We’re far from dad’s army but 17 of current squad are over 30, will be 24 after next World Cup, and worry that could be a talent cliff edge. Who can provide fresh blood this summer (if we can even afford to experiment with selection)?

@will_owen9 Fair play because for those of us who didn’t have much of a choice we really stunk back then and for the 5 years either side 😂 might sound unkind but even likes of John Barclay, Jim Hamilton, Johnnie Beattie will admit that in pretty much those words quite regularly
