If you're not getting regular rejections you're not taking enough shots. If you're not taking a lot of shots you are performing below your potential. High performers get rejected a lot but always end up winning cuz they take a lot of shots.
I was unemployed for 6 months.
- Gave into vices. lol. Drank till my ulcer triggered in the midnight and I almost died. Then I realized that I’m being foolish. Picked myself up.
- Went to driving school. Perfected my driving.
- Sent applications everyday. Lived and dwelled on LinkedIn. Applied for everything and anything.
- The applications started yielding fruit so on some days I had tests or interviews.
- Used WhatsApp less so that seeing people go to the office won’t trigger me.
- Started learning financial modeling with my friend, Femi
- Realized it wasn’t a thing of shame and told more people about it (Buchi unofficially employed me pending when I got something. Uqbah later connected me to my next role)
- Slept like a mad person 😂. Learnt new dishes too. I just dey cook, dey chop.
- Avoided relationships like a plague. Na words of affirmation I wan give?
- Avoided my folk’s place too. I no fit dey grind pepper when I suppose dey work.
- Dyed my hair red. Wanted to get a tattoo but it was more expensive than my depression.
- All in all, came out stronger ❤️
@YemisiAjeojo You are not entitled to a raise because you did the "best job you could." If I hired someone to paint my wall and we agreed on a price and somehow they exceeded my expectations, it's not a ground for them to demand more than they initially agreed on.
Stopped by Flutterwave HQ for a coffee chat with the Flutterwave CEO, GB.
We talked about potential partnerships between Xava Technologies and Flutterwave. I’m excited about the outcome!
By June 1st, Educare will be expanding fully in Kenya.
We recruited some locals since January and they have been amazing.
KCSE exams this year will have the best performance since inception in Kenya.
Seeing Educare impact countries gives me great sense of fulfillment.
If I become Education Minister, the first thing I will prohibit in Nigerian secondary schools will be the wearing of jackets and ties. There’s simply no justification for students wearing jackets and ties to school, some classrooms don’t even have ACs, and they’ll still walk home in the hot sun.
It's now like a signal of a good, 'tush' school. Who even started this?
Happy International Day of the Boy Child. I hope we continue to focus on raising boys well, so we do not keep having these kinds of conversations about how men are failing.
I hate it when someone dies of cancer, and we start giving medical advice. Stop being insensitive. There is no single CAUSE of Cancer; there are interactions of multiple factors. I've seen fitness junkies develop cancer at an early age, and those with the most unhealthy lifestyles live disease-free until old age. Even though we encourage a healthy lifestyle through health education, let's choose our moments so that our good intentions aren't misconstrued, please🙏
@powerfulbadeeu I think it's more about survival than intelligence (and I am not doubting footballers are intelligent).
But if you find yourself in scenarios where you have no option, you would be amazed at how fast you adapt or learn anything. This happens with skillsets.
"I’m an entrepreneur. I have nine businesses — six have failed, two I withdrew from, and one is struggling. And I say that with intentionality because failure is part of business. It is part of your entrepreneurial journey." — Kemi Adeosun, former minister of finance
If you find yourself in this situation, do not be deterred. Execute anyway.
Google wasn't the first search engine. Facebook wasn't the first social network.
Being first means something but being best and sustaining it is on another level.
To execute your idea now, you need to study what they have built. Find the gaps. Find what users are complaining about.
Then build yours better.
You will see how people will shift to your product.
Think ChatGPT & Claude.
Anthropic was already building when ChatGPT exploded and got to the market first, but they didn't quit. They kept executing their vision anyway.
If you lose at speed, don’t lose at execution.
Ship now. Iterate fast. Out-execute them. Become the best in a particular area.
