I've been spending some time over the weekends of the past year trying to automate a catering business and I think I'll be sharing our progress here 🧵
Everything super-powered by @laravelphp and @filamentphp 🧡💛
Now THIS is exciting for public content platforms.
Cloudflare turns into an MoR for per-crawl micropayments. Still looks like quite the challenge to implement, but I do like where this is going.
A bit of technical detail: blocking of individual hosts by ISPs is unfortunately common. However, this is commonly done based on the SNI header of TLS handshake which contains the unencrypted host name. Spain instead blocks the entire IP independent of the host name
To understand what’s happening with LaLiga and Spain and why 🇺🇸 is such a special beacon of freedom in the world:
Imagine if NFL 🏈 had the authority to arbitrarily and unilaterally block IPs of large scale internet services like Vercel & AWS, to all AT&T and T-Mobile customers.
… And these IPs hosted millions of critical services completely unrelated to football, including health care, government, banking, news, AI, e-commerce, crypto, travel…
… And Vercel was not hearing even the why or the who that the block is targeting.
You can’t imagine it because the people would not allow it.
This is wild
Spain blocking possibly 75% of internet traffic that is proxies through Cloudflare
Also blocking all of Vercel right now
Shows how strange court orders aimed to shut down select few sites can take down most of the internet in the country…
Spain is censoring the internet by blocking @vercel CDN IPs, which is the front door of millions of applications and websites.
We’re working hard on mitigations to restore freedom of speech as we can, as they’re uncommunicative, secretive & undeterred by users’ complaints.
