Anyways. Here is an article from 2025 on the UK government trying to get back door access to Apple users data that even Apple doesn’t have access to.
The number of times “child protection” is mentioned? Zero 🙂

@theashrb There are. EE even offers a safer SIM designed for children. The real issue is that personal responsibility is no longer expected. Too many people now assume the government should solve every problem for them rather than taking basic steps themselves.
Everyone saying we grew up without social media is a liar. There was Hi5, MySpace, Bebo, MSN , Skype , BBM and eventually WhatsApp.
95% of everyone over 30 used at least one of these during their teens. If you didn’t you either was a teen before they existed or didn’t have WiFi
What the fuck are you filming this for? This is an incredibly odd thing for an MP to do. Modern politicians just want to be social media influencers with power over legislation.
Studies in AUS found that since the social media ban went into effect teenagers are significantly less educated on news and events and more ignorant on what’s going on in the world. This is the goal. Western govts saw the rise of the information age and are seeking to quash it
“Adults can still access social media through age checks like facial recognition, digital IDs, passports and credit cards.”
So there it is - this wasn’t about banning under 16s from social media, this was about giving EVERYONE a digital ID.
RESIST 🚫
Yh I’m sure the guy who tried to implement digital id for all adults and getting push back from everyone is now suddenly caring about online safety for under 16s that requires ALL adults to confirm their ID.
The social media ban is just an excuse for lazy parenting. Parents that can’t be bothered to restrict device use or learn how to put parental controls on their kids phones and home internet are the ones rejoicing at this.
The UK is heading down a very dystopian path… and the majority of this island is gleefully cheering it on under the guise of “child safety” 🙂
Mind you, none of this would even be a topic of discussion if parents would actually parent their kids…
When Russia hosted the World Cup in 2018, it had to suspend normal visa rules for the tournament. Foreigners with tickets could enter visa-free, using a scheme called ‘Fan ID.’
Russia also had to do weird stuff to keep FIFA’s sponsors happy. For example, small shops near Fan Zones and stadiums could only sell Budweiser beer on match days.
So yes, FIFA absolutely does dictate conditions to host governments when it suits FIFA. Infantino pretending otherwise is nonsense.
