We'll see if any head coaches want to use it, but the NFL will give them the option to designate a staff member to initiate challenges during games. STORY:

Kid showed up 10 minutes late to practice last Thursday.
Freshman.
Third week on the team.
Still learning how everything works.
I didn't say anything.
Just moved the practice forward without him.
He jogged up, quiet, and slid into the back of the group.
Everyone kept moving.
During the cool-down, I saw two of our leaders pull him aside by the fence.
Couldn't hear what they said.
Didn't need to.
Just watched them talk — calm, serious, no raised voices.
The kid nodding.
Listening.
Thursday afternoon, 4:47 PM, my phone buzzes:
"Won't happen again, Coach. My bad."
I never tell new coaches this is what's possible because they don't believe me.
They think you have to enforce everything.
Make the call on every situation.
Be the one who holds the line.
But when your architecture is clear — when everyone understands what the goal demands — the team regulates itself.
Those leaders weren't doing me a favor.
They were protecting something they built.
I don't police alignment.
The standard does.
And, SBF teams do push “to” fatigue.
They just don’t seek fatigue.
They choose to RECOVER rather than grinding through meaningless, sloppy reps.
Tired is the enemy.
Never let today ruin tomorrow.
Don’t burn the 🥩
Wish I had a dime for every time I’ve answered this question:
“How are you gonna train to have energy in the 4th quarter or overtime if you never push to fatigue in practice setting?”
This question comes from the traditional mindset. These highly-intelligent, hard-working people have only known “the grind” (hard, dull work). They have never experienced playing the long game as a Sprint-Based Football program. You only know what you know.
Here is my answer to how you can win without seeking high-volume fatigue in practice.
1) Being faster than your opponents! SBF teams are likely one mph faster at every position. The fastest guys in the 1st quarter are fastest in the 4th quarter. ⚡️⚡️⚡️
2) Being healthier than your opponents. Teams with 1% of their roster unavailable will have a huge advantage over teams with 10% of their roster unavailable.
3) Having more TALENT on your team. SBF attracts the best athletes in your school. Even your best 🏀 players will want to play 🏈.
4) SBF teams LOVE PRACTICE. Traditional teams see practice as the hell they must go through to play in games. Love > Hate
5) SBF coaches will out-coach their grinder counterparts. They sleep better. They have happier homes. They drink less. Tired, miserable coaches make bad decisions.
6) SBF teams typically have a big lead entering the 4th quarter and seldom play in overtime games.
7) And, fatigue never creates energy. 🤷♂️

Greatness isn't built on hype.
It's built in the quiet moments - when nobody's watching.
Preparation. Consistency. Effort.
