A friend lost her teenage daughter to suicide last week and sending her words of love feels so futile. I wish I could carry this grief for her, for even just a moment, so she can take a breath.

@Zainab__Balogun I have often thought of Emily Martin who I went to college w/. She moved away to Australia after graduation & I lost contact w/ her. She & I often commiserated about being mixed race.
She made me feel seen. I hope she’s living her best life.

A friend’s kid was bullied so much she had to switch school’s. The teachers did nothing to help, saying “we don’t see it”, “your daughter seems to be fine”. 2nd grade. This is SECOND GRADE.

The system failed this teenager in soooo many ways. So many people at that school just did not give a sh*t about a child who needed them to help. Dagny could still be alive if they had just called a damn ambulance the moment it was known they had been beaten.

A former athlete I coached got accepted into Howard medical school and sent a me pic of the acceptance letter. Don’t mind me as I sit here and cry with joy.
