These visits are about diplomacy, trade, security, and managing relations between two global powers not about “seeing the boss.” Politics and international relations are far more complex than such a narrow interpretation suggests.

If Nigerians repeatedly vote for the same political party or candidate, should we simply interpret that as voter loyalty or should we also ask whether our electoral system has failed to evolve enough to give voters genuinely competitive choices? Democracy is not just about holding elections; it is also about having electoral laws that keep pace with technology, transparency and the changing expectations of citizens.
