When writing defensive code, it's always a good idea to craft a few unit tests to validate those assumptions... especially if a linter is throwing a warning :)

@apiary I like to use those types of findings as the start of a larger conversation. Like, yeah, individually it's not likely to matter, but what it tells me is that we might have larger design/process issues at work (like a lot of "click-ops")
