I would treat "test writing" as a separate genre, and I would only teach it right before the test. The rest of the year is "real world" writing. If kids write well, they will do fine on the tests. They will not write well if they only do test prep writing.
Making time for students to read book of choice in class.Student finished Children of Blood and Bone and LOVED it.Told me that she is Nigerian and never read anything by a Nigerian author. She lived in one of the cities referenced in the book. Connections matter. Choice Matters!
@teachkate I teach 9th English (academic and Pre-AP) in LCISD. I would love to work with you. I served on the LCISD
"learning progression team" made possible by the workshop you taught us this summer.
@LaProfeMoni@Wessendorff_MS@Dr_RNivens That's great! My two oldest kids attended blue track schools (before maroon track opened) and we loved those schools and teachers.
@sirhottest Last I checked, only 9% was for actual Covid relief. Lots of other items (bridges, museums, libraries, etc) were placed in the bill that had nothing to do with Covid. Love how the media focuses on those who "don't want to help the American people". SMH @Mister_Alidor
Out of nowhere, student tells me today - "It wasn't until I took your class that I noticed all the foreshadow clues in Hamilton, the musical". It's the little things. ❤️
