At heart I believe all of us are children of God who are siblings to one another. As such, each of us has the inherent right to liberty, freedom, and the ability to pursue our dreams and create value for ourselves. We ought to stand for those principles and defend them for every human being regardless of race, creed, gender, orientation, or nationality. We may all be different in our unique ways, but we ought to treat each other equally before the law and afford dignity and respect to one another. We should show love, kindness, and decency to others in our private lives. Compassion, empathy, and mercy are strengths because they are virtues. Integrity and charity above all.
@PopeJon32 Not for Public schools, but it is for private schools. Stanford cares a great deal about that. They have the donors to back it but will need partners to facilitate it.
What people are overlooking during the college sports crisis is the absolute incentive and need private universities have to stick together. Governance, rules, and the market impact resulting from the current dispute all threaten their institutional missions and purposes. Also, of all the schools, they are most able to keep sports like track, cross country, swimming, lacrosse, golf, water polo, tennis, etc funded. Those universities may be the last bastion for non-revenue generating sports. If public universities that are resource constrained begin cutting programs, the private schools that can still maintain them, will need a stable conference and schedules for those programs.
Donโt be surprised if NBC (who has the US Olympic rights) partners with someone like Apple to promote USA Olympics by covering collegiate Olympic sports.
@Bomb3r_CFBMafia@BYUSportsNation and BYUTV are an example of a private institution with all the TV equipment and infrastructure to cover every sport (which they do). That will be a model many private schools with money will adopt.
The B1G has some great institutions, stadiums, and fans. However, BYU fans are not thrilled with a P2 breakaway because it is guaranteed we will be left behind. I hate Campbellโs plan and I prefer they all come back to the table and agree to something. I have no problem with the B1G and SEC making lots of money but I donโt think it would be healthy for college sports for them to break away. I much prefer folks stop trying to cheat the CSC rules and follow what everyone agreed to in House.
Washington and UCLA do not like religious affiliated schools. Michigan and Wisconsin probably feel the same way. They would admit ND because of the money. Anyone would jump at a B1G invite (BYU included) but I donโt see it so long as academia drives the bus in the B1G. The B1G has the right to do that, so I am not complaining. I am just being realistic.
The bill has constitutional issues but the B1G and SEC are venturing into Sherman Antitrust territory. If they break off and partner with each other in scheduling and a postseason it will devalue everyone else. I have a very hard time seeing them escape horizontal monopoly scrutiny.
@babybilly1968@mckenzielaw@dennisdoddcbs Having contempt for lesser conferences doesnโt garner public sympathy for the B1G and SEC. Your attitude only solidifies support for this bill (which I oppose).
@jones_jerod@TheWildUte@GavinHeckman@LockedOnUtes Yeah, the B1G would never admit BYU. Washington, UCLA, and many others hate us too much. It would not matter if the LDS church pumped billions into medical research done by the new med school.
