Every runner gets this!
Same principle applies to pretty much everything else in life.
“Just get going. Take the first step.” The motivation to KEEP going and FINISH will follow.
The hardest part of my morning run is often just getting out the door.
Once you're out the door, the rest often takes care of itself.
Just get going. Take the first step.
The best workout that few include:
Warm-up.
Find a moderate hill.
Sprint up it for ~8 seconds.
Take a long recovery (2+min).
Repeat 4 to 8 times.
Relatively safe speed/power development that works for endurance athletes and general fitness.

Mental performance training isn’t about fixing things that are broken.
It’s about improving the things that you already have.
Everyone has been training their mental all their lives, but just because you’ve always done something one way, doesn’t mean it’s the best way!
This reinforces two of my favorite workout principles:
-finish 90% of your workouts feeling like you could go faster/further
-hitting the same splits as a previous workout with it feeling easier is better than running faster splits with it feeling harder
There’s a deeply satisfying feeling in knowing you have the legs to destroy a workout but having the confidence to only do what’s prescribed — in being in control of both body and mind.
This is fitness.
The real secret of world-class performers isn't the daily routines that they develop, but that they stick to them–that they show up, even when they don't feel like it.
Stop trying to prove fitness, and start trying to do what is best to get you to the starting line fit, healthy, and ready to go.
The need to prove oneself comes from insecurity. It’s a lack of trust in the plan and the process.
