@PaprikaGirl_JP This sounds delicious. I found a wagashi shop in NYC this week, bought a ton, ate it all, then started making jellies. I'm now committed to seasonal fruit jellies.
@VicVijayakumar@chutneylife See... I was out in the garden so I missed the whole thing. By the time I pay attention again, we'll be on the upswing, right?
Oh, I didn't answer you--these predate them. I went from all wood (rotted) to "Ahh, I'll use tin." Schlepped in corrugaged and sliced it in half down the middle. But: those aren't cedar posts, and the termites are getting them.
The Birdies beds are thick. I haven't seen the Vego. The first one I opened, I thought, "This is going to last me years." It was sturdier than I anticipated.
90% there! You can see where the one spot is missing a raised bed. But: I’ve planted. This used to be a Where’s Waldo weed fest by end of May and now… definitely crammed some carrots and onions between plants and am hunting for a place for the remaining zucchini and peppers…
But it’s orderly and I’m eating the food.
I love the structures. The arch: I got and assembled. The rest is a collection of crib bed frames, a pitchback, rescued wire shelves, and old garden stuff left by the prior owners.
@ExtropiAna@japan_nobunaga It's the opposite--we have a minisplit in the bedroom (I didn't want) and one in the family room. But, the original side of the house is 1939 and stone. So: it needs central air.
It's a future project, but since... I don't want it... it's not my future project;)
@iceberge80 It’s prob too late but I saved seeds… or: look it up at Renaissance Farms. That’s where I started my heirloom journey. Curtis is a master!!
@ThebestBrian@iceberge80 Taste. Low acid, really nice. But, the goal is to preserve the year's worth and this isn't it for that. I'll dehydrate some (a la sun dried) and I did freeze dry some into powder, but no one really wants a non-red tomato sauce. Even if it tastes great, it looks questionable.
@iceberge80@ThebestBrian I had to reign it in--the family requested standards. So, I've got a bed of beefsteak varieties, then a bed of "mine" and some double-secret heirlooms all over the place.
@ThebestBrian@iceberge80 I haven't had luck with Brandywine. I wanted to win wit that one. My favorite: Casey yellow. It's a potato leaf indeterminate that grew 6 feet up and midway across the top of a 10x20 chicken run last year. Lasted clear through October (6a).
@clmuseum@BrizaFridata@DudespostingWs I have some crows and wondered about this--how do you feed them specifically instead of every gosh darned squirrel and chipmunk you don't want?
