For those who appreciated my *informal* list of quantum supremacy/advantage claims and rebuttals, here's a *formal* list in a preprint review article.

@RockinRC1 @ElonClipsX @elonmusk And we've seen this happen with domain specific AI like AlphaGo getting better than any human player.

[R K Rupesh @rupeshknn]

@RockinRC1 @ElonClipsX @elonmusk Probably the same way normal parents have genius children who (sometimes) grow up to increase the net knowledge of humanity.

I'm so proud of the many teams across Apple developing powerful technologies that are improving people’s lives. The Hearing Aid feature on AirPods Pro 2 uses your personalized sound profile so you can hear the moments that matter.

@MITOCW You all should make a post in LinkedIn as well, there will be good reach there

@Rodolfo99152540 @robert_annett @ednewtonrex @fchollet @Carnage4Life An engineer designed it to mass produce. Not very different from what's going on with AI.

[R K Rupesh @rupeshknn]

@Rodolfo99152540 @robert_annett @ednewtonrex @fchollet @Carnage4Life The machines sure as hell didn't come up with it by themselves 😅

My scary classroom social experiment demonstrating how tyrannies arise from democracies:

I gave a bunch of extra credit tickets to the first few students to arrive in class, then everyone else received 1-2 tickets.

The kids that came into class last were outraged by the “injustice” of those that came first getting a greater reward.

There were no rules or directions for this day in class. I just told them I’d act as an enforcer of whatever they decided to do in the 47 minutes.

The girl circled in red- Emily- was a genius.

She used her charisma and charm to court the majority of her peers that had less coupons, and played off their resentment of the minority that had earned more tickets for arriving to class early.

In the allotted time she convinced her peers that if they voted to give her absolute power, she would confiscate the 40+ coupons held by the minority and distribute them equally.

The minority of students were frustrated, but powerless against the majority vote.

Emily was elected to a “supreme ruler” position, and as promised she confiscated all of the tickets from the minority of students that arrived to class first.

That’s when things got interesting.

She kept the vast majority of tickets for herself, and distributed a few to some of her friends.

It was a microcosm of what has happened historically time and time again, and the danger our republic faces.

I asked the students to write a reflection on how they now viewed unrestrained majority-rules democracy, and their opinions has definitely changed from the day prior.

@cwilstrup @soumithchintala @colesbury Off topic but, do you have/know any resources to help get started with coding in this pattern of C and Python?

[R K Rupesh @rupeshknn]

@PennyLaneAI How do we get them 🤩

[Soumith Chintala @soumithchintala]

No More GIL!
the Python team has officially accepted the proposal.

Congrats @colesbury on his multi-year brilliant effort to remove the GIL, and a heartfelt thanks to the Python Steering Council and Core team for a thoughtful plan to make this a reality.

@OndrejCertik What's the motivation for this given there are already several packages that do the same

[Steven Thomson @PhysicsSteve]

I don't agree with everything in that article but I'm extremely in favour of any progress away from using the phrase 'spooky action' to describe everything quantum. It's become a careless catch-all that's regularly used out of its original context.

@hankgreen You mean you don’t want answers to questions that aren’t your question when you ask a question?
