Thariq is the lead engineer behind Claude Code.

The guy literally ditched writing Markdown files, switching instead to Claude Code to generate his HTML.

My pitch to Mastercard yesterday:

“When someone leaves a job, has a baby, or runs a marathon, people usually do a WhatsApp collection or sign a card that gets thrown away.

I want Ownstory to replace that.

We let groups create shared stories with photos, videos, and personal messages while embedding a gift card or contribution directly inside it. The result is both emotional and financial, and it lasts forever.”

It was a good 30 second but the challenge was the unit economics.

The US model looked strong through Mastercard-sponsored gift cards, but our primary market is the UK where interchange fee is far 10x lower than US and we will end up giving all margin to our white label BIN sponsor.

IYKYK ... I am going to slay for FR ..

Most people are welcomed 2026 with polished roadmaps, bold visions, and predictions about changing tech world.

But I on the other hand, have started the year trying to understand Gen Z vocabulary.

We’ve onboarded an impressive bunch of interns in the UK and I got weekly one mentoring session with them, and my current leadership challenge is understanding Gen Z vocabulary.

Apparently my day now includes words like: Bussin, Ghosting, IYKYK, Sus, Flex, Delulu, Shook, Low-key, High-key etc etc ..

Before talking about AI, vector DB, or scaling globally, I might need a Gen Z crash course

That said, building teams across generations is one of the best parts of leadership. I feel like stay sharp, stay curious and sometimes I realise the future of work already walked into my office.

AI can wait. First task of 2026: decode Gen Z and lead from the front (without sounding sus)
