Happy to welcome court decision to allow the liberty of Human Rights Defender Bob Njagi after posting bail.

@bobnjagi was arrested on the eve of the commemoration of the 2024 GenZ protest. He was detained at Isinya police station as the court allowed police request to detain him to allow for investigation before plea taking.

Other human rights defenders that were arrested by the police during this year’s commemoration were singled out for unfathomable brutality including torture, inhuman and degrading treatment signaling state cruelty against defenders of human rights.

The Defenders Coalition calls on the state to guarantee a safe environment for human rights defenders and civil society to operate freely in a democratic society.
