Grew up in Africa. Now in Norfolk, Nelson’s county. EVs & solar are the future, just keep governments out of it. Love Europe, hate the EU. Cocker Spaniels rule.
In South West Norfolk, a rock-solid Tory seat for decades:
Labour won with just 26.7% (Terry Jermy)
Conservatives 25.3% (Liz Truss)
Reform UK 22.5% (Toby McKenzie)
Independent (James Bagge) 14.2%
Lib Dems 5.9%
The right of centre vote totalled 62%, yet Labour squeaked it by 630 votes. This wasn't a Labour surge, It was the right tearing itself apart.
Unless there is a way of working things out Labour will get another majority.
@stuey_beef Nailed it, the only chance the right has of getting into power will be 2034 if we still have a country. By then the 2 main stumbling blocks to a united right will have retired.
Exactly, hard to get your head around but In a few years, quick procedures like a cataract op could put something in or around your optic nerve or visual cortex (Neuralink’s Blindsight implant) so you ‘see’ your calendar, maps, or messages directly in your mind’s eye and crystal clear, no screen needed. Just think ‘show me my schedule’ and there it is.
Same for calls, speak naturally or think it, AI routes it seamlessly. Neuralink’s already letting paralysed people control devices with their thoughts. Blindsight aims to restore and even upgrade vision for the blind, bypassing damaged eyes/optic nerves entirely, with potential for xray, infrared or better.
We won’t need a pocket slab forever. The interface will be inside. Tech will continue evolvin. Who knows?
@pdxraj@_HenryBolton Wrong. Reform were taking them to court with a judicial review scheduled. Labour folded days before the hearing rather than risk losing. That’s why the elections went ahead. Check the timeline.
Braverman fought the system, she pushed Rwanda which was blocked by courts/ECHR and passed the Illegal Migration Act to stop the boats. She was blocked by judges and weak leadership. A bit rich to blame her for letting in an individual when she was fighting the system that let him in. This is what Rupert Lowe posted about her in July 2025 “Suella is a rare MP in Westminster - she’s honest. I have huge respect for her and what she has achieved. Brave, patriotic, incredibly intelligent and above all - right. is one of the few good ones left in Parliament. She deserves respect.
@neal_preshner@Macbeveridge@stuey_beef Boris was useless as a PM, but the appointment of Dame Kate Bingham was a master stoke in getting the vaccine delivered in the UK first.
