The Ola Cup is probably one of the very first web3 esports leagues, and there are 3 main reasons I'm so hyped:
*1. The game*. @PlayWildcard is just amazing, and their team represents some of the most professional individuals in our industry.
*2. The teams*. Just look at those names below. Top-notch esports orgs are assembling new squads to battle it out in a fresh game, with exciting opportunities for international travel and boosting their presence at DreamHack.
*3. The format*. Web3 is all about ownership, transparency, and clear rules—those are core values for OLA, and we're bringing them into esports. With the Ola Cup, fans aren't just watching; they're key players. That means fans can actually compete and win in a free-to-play, play-to-win setup. Plus, they will be the ones deciding on big decisions, like how the prize money is split and who wins.
You don't even need a governance token to run a web3 esports league. The game itself is web3, payments happen on-chain, and critically, we've got a sustainable model where our PnL works in USD, not just tokens.
Thank you, @arbitrum. We're really looking forward to launching the Wildcard Ola Cup, getting feedback from the community, hearing from the teams, and continuing to build our platform.
