Mark Cuban: "James Talarico. Let's go. I'm a big fan. He's honest, trustworthy, he cares. He'll do the right thing as opposed to the politically expedient thing.
To Texans, do what's best for Texas. You've been voting for Republicans all these years, what have they done for you?"

“This isn’t about party. It’s about character.”
“And for Texans who believe our leaders should reflect the best of who we are, the clear choice is Democratic state Rep. James Talarico.”

I don’t agree with conservative columnist David French all that often, but I totally agree with his piece today on James Talarico. Here are a few excerpts:
__________
Yet if the primary American divide is between decent and indecent, then the equation changes. Talarico shines.
Or, to put it another way, Talarico is one of the few openly Christian politicians in the United States who acts like a Christian, and by acting like a Christian he reveals a profound contrast with so many members of the MAGA Christian movement that’s dominated American political life for 10 years.
. . . . . .
This miserable political moment won’t end when the left takes back the government from the right or if the right continues to beat the left. It will end when our politicians — especially Christian politicians — forsake cruelty for compassion and realize that we shall know Christians in politics not by their stridency and ideology, but by their integrity and love, including their love for, as Talarico put it, “all of our neighbors.”
That’s the significance of the Talarico moment — not the old news that a Christian can be progressive, but rather that Christian politicians can actually act like Christians. Kindness still has a place in the public square, even if it doesn’t always seem that way.
We live in a country where an alcoholic from Fox News runs our military, a former heroin addict is in charge of our health, and they both report to a convicted felon.
What a time to be alive.
Thank you to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram for this endorsement and for recognizing that I offer “specific, practical ideas for addressing dauntingly large concerns.” That’s exactly what Texas needs: real solutions for the challenges we face in our environment, education system, and economy. Together, we can build a better future for all Texans. #Goodwin4Texas
As a physical therapist, I saw thousands of patients from 18 to over 100 years old.
And I started noticing a pattern.
50-year-olds with one foot in the grave. Overweight and struggling to get off the toilet on their own.
6+ meds and exhausted all the time.
They were alive but not living. Just waiting for the clock to run out.
But there were also patients in their 80s and 90s who were thriving.
Sharp. Strong. Independent. Gardening, traveling, telling stories with a sharp mind.
A completely different quality of life.
The difference wasn't genetics.
The 80-year-olds who were thriving:
-Moved every single day
-Strong relative to their bodyweight
-Had purpose and community
The 60-year-olds struggling:
-Overweight but simultaneously weak
-Processed food as the default
-Reactive healthcare (pills for every problem)
I remember one guy. Early 60s. Type II diabetes and early heart failure.
Couldn't get off the couch by himself so he ended up in an assisted living.
He told me: "I guess this is just what happens when you get old."
He was 62...
That's only old following a decade of neglect.
Modern medicine is excellent at keeping people alive, so he likely still has another decade left with poor quality of life.
You don't wake up one day unable to get up and down off the floor to play with your grandkids.
You get there one skipped workout at a time.
One drive-thru meal at a time. One "I'll start Monday" at a time.
But it works both ways.
Those that thrive late into life don't do anything extreme. They just hit the basics and never stop.
Because consistency beats intensity over the long haul.
So which path are you on right now?
The best time to choose health was 10 years ago.
But today is still an option. The next choice is right now.
What's it going to be?
Bill Clinton Chief Strategist Paul Begala: "Democrats haven't won a statewide race in 31 years in my beloved home state, I think Talarico can be the first."
