FINAL DAY of this week on this giving circle for six families & a displacement camp. My appeals make no difference: support only comes from people who clicked “weekly” on a coffee.
Join in for emergency medical care for three women, our current priority. https://t.co/aMkxb4mdOf
What does it mean to be a Biocreative? 🧬🎨
@bygracechuang orchestrated branding for Ginkgo Bioworks' IPO, which was the largest of a biotech startup ever.
There, she cofounded @growbyginkgo, an award-winning magazine about the societal aspects of synthetic biology, and she has been recognized as one of the top creatives under 30 in the world by Young Guns.
In 2022, she started doing freelance work for companies like Bitbiome and Solugen.
Last year, she joined forces with Christina Agapakis to start Oscillator, an agency that crafts new stories where biology and technology meet.
If you’re into branding or storytelling, or you’re simply curious to learn how it’s like to work at the intersection of art and science, this episode is for you.
We talked about why branding can sometimes feel like therapy for scientists, fears of B2B and B2C biotech companies in their storytelling, what biotech is missing these days, new branding formats, and the Oscillator ethos.

Most science degrees never require students to learn how to communicate their work publicly. That fuels confusion, mistrust, + missed chances to protect lives. Let's end it. Sign the petition to make communication training a STEM degree requirement. https://t.co/v226U9z5xO
9Zero folks in Seattle -- if you, like me, are into both art & science and you're excited about what that combo can offer climate/sustainability work, come hang out over lunch on Thursday, Nov. 13!

@NedHalberstadt5 Hi Ned, I remember you. I was sad and shocked to find out that your brother Thomas died. My younger brother died last year and I will miss him forever. He also went to 56 but I don’t know if you knew him. I can’t say I know how you feel but I do hope you’re doing alright.

A powerful “bomb cyclone” will combine with an atmospheric river to unleash over a month’s worth of rain, hurricane-force wind gusts and feet of mountain snow to parts of the Pacific Northwest and Northern California.

A @Walmart Foundation-backed pilot paved the way for @GoodwillIntl sites to become textile recycling hubs. Elsa Wenzel has the details: https://t.co/Q27vh6I6y2
I'm wondering, who else would have gone to the 2020 @ACSorganic Graduate Research Symposium if not for the pandemic?🤚🏻
I feel I missed out on meeting some amazing chemists there -- anyone from the 2020 cohort want to introduce yourselves?

A new process skips the separation step of recycling textiles, making it easier to recover the components of mixed fibers for reuse. https://t.co/RT0CL7LTmg .
I've heard the question a few times of what "the next PFAS" will be, and while I truly hope there isn't one, history has shown us yet again that prevention >>> cure. It's vital the consumer products and chemical industries avoid hazards from the very start with #GreenChemistry.
"PFAS can be found in nonstick cookware, guitar strings, dental floss, makeup, hand sanitizer, brake fluid, ski wax, fishing lines..." and also in waterways and in the blood of each and every one of us -- a massive environmental and public health impact.
For years, I wished someone inside 3M could give me insight into the company’s decision to keep making and selling “forever chemicals” even though they were accumulating in people. Then I met Kris Hansen... https://t.co/vsBSK04gY3
Cheeky lil film from patagonia touches on marketing, supply chains, product failure, and why it feels good to buy new stuff 👚👕👖

People used to only need a few hooks for all their clothing. Modern houses have closets filled with stuff.
Our new film “The Shitthropocene” explores why pretty much everyone is making and buying too much stuff and how the impulse toward “more” might destroy us all.
