@shoewizard59@AlexDagAZ True. Ran out of room in my reply. But like you’d aid on the podcast, these two months can serve an opportunity to get to know him and set up for a run when he is a free agency. A trade at the deadline should likely only be considered if a run on free agency is contemplated.
@DbacksStatsInfo With a guy like Groover on the system it’s more likely Fernandez is 3B of the future. Just playing first until Arenado is traded or his free agency
@hallofgoodpod I think a requirement for hall of pretty good eligibility should be was an all-star (or something similar gold glove/silver slugger) at least once but no more than X. Not all all star nods are indicative of greatness. See Jake Lamb
@dbacksprospectz@MrAzSports I think a better answer is the ranking systems got it wrong. There was surprise when the team added him to the 40 man roster to protect him from the rule 5 draft. They knew what they had even if the third party ranking systems did not.
To fans…yes. But don’t forget he was added to the 40-man to protect him from being taken in the Rule 5. Dbacks FO knew. Other FO’s probably knew. Chalk this up to why they had those jobs and we don’t.
@nakataniakatani This came out of almost nowhere. He was a below-average hitter before reaching Amarillo, where he looked quite good. This offseason, though, he's reached a new level!
@shoewizard59 heard your take on waldschmidt and keeping him down for an extra year of control. Is the extra year of control more valuable than the potential bonus dress pick if he starts on OD roster? Especially considering the teams recent pre-arb extensions?
