Two things that need more attention: Weiss got $150M in cash and Paramount stock for the Free Press. The Ellisons’ purchase was financed by $24B from three Middle Eastern sovereign wealth funds.
The firing of Scott Pelley will reverberate in American journalism history as a symbolic execution of the single most groundbreaking and successful news program in the annals of U.S. broadcast television. https://t.co/QsXWnWYNfQ
Scott Pelley responds to Trump saying he doesn’t care about the country: “I’ve never worn the uniform, but I’ve been in combat for this country. In Afghanistan, and Iraq, Kuwait. Been shot at. Spent nights in foxholes filling up with water in the desert. I’m not aware that the president has ever done any of those things for his country. You become a journalist because you love the First Amendment, you love the country. While all the other descriptions the president used about me might be applicable, not that one”
I've defended legacy media on here many times, and I'll probably continue to do so. But man, Scott Pelley comes off looking like a real asshole in the 60 minutes thing. I get being at odds with your new boss, but there's a way to do things, and ambushing the guy in front of everyone is probably the worst imaginable way to handle conflict.
Let’s not forget that the Ellisons got control of CBS with $24 billion in investment funds from three Middle Eastern sovereign wealth funds. Tech bros and Middle Eastern money.
By firing Scott Pelley, editor-in-chief of CBS News Bari Weiss has single-handedly destroyed the most brilliant investigative newsmagazine in network history, 60 Minutes. Weiss exemplifies everything MAGA is about: ego, incompetence, and blithering idiocy.
Anyone who knows my father knows he probably knows more about Sports than just about any human being not in the business. Kathy’s failed soundbite ain’t gonna land well… just like her policies.
One aspect of massive political fund raising rarely reported: how money is used: to enhance personal lifestyles of pols: meals, limousines, gifts to favored constituents and of course transfers to other pols to curry favor. Worst excesses? Pols in safe districts.
NEW: Sharyn Alfonsi is OUT at "60 Minutes," months after her feud with Bari Weiss.
The CBS veteran lambasted the network for prioritizing “access journalism over accountability and protecting power rather than scrutinizing it.”

CIA will not want publicity on this case. What are those gold bars used for? Untraceable payments to agents and foreign leaders on their payroll. Delivered by CIA undercover officers. Agency doesn’t want ANYONE in those “transactions” identified.

To all the Dems publicly analyzing and debating what's wrong with the party, I'd argue that this navel gazing is itself one of our biggest weaknesses. Please stop!
The only things we should be talking about are Trump's failures and our positive vision for the future, period. 1/
Jaxson Dart: I'm grateful, I'm honored, I'm pleasured to introduce the 45th and 47th president of the United States of America, President Donald J. Trump.
NEW: Trump asked Hegseth in a recent phone call why the troop deployment to Poland was canceled. Trump told Hegseth that the U.S. shouldn’t treat Poland poorly, given it is an American ally with close ties to the White House. https://t.co/YbKxjnhsw4
💥NEW: Alan Dershowitz: “I’ve lived a long life. I’m 87 years old. I’ve dealt with many professionals, psychiatrists, doctors, you name it. The most unethical group of people I have EVER worked with in my life have been journalists.”
It’s likely that Duffy will be able to take off as business expenses any personal costs he accrues. Years ago, former Tennessee Gov. Lamar Alexander took his family to Australia for a year, wrote a book about it. Took off cost.
🇺🇸NEWS: FBI Director Kash Patel used a government Gulfstream V to fly his country singer girlfriend to a George Strait concert.
He watched the show from a luxury suite reported at $35,000 to $50,000.
Then he flew her home on the same FBI jet.
Same week: a “VIP snorkel” at the underwater tomb of 900 sailors and Marines at Pearl Harbor.
The pattern from the same NYT investigation is now public.
Four SWAT agents and two SUVs guarding his girlfriend in Nashville. The detail estimated at $1 million a year. SWAT escorts to a hair appointment.
An FBI official suggested a threat assessment to determine if any of it was justified. Patel berated him.
A New York Times reporter wrote about the SWAT detail. The FBI opened an investigation into the reporter. The DOJ shut it down and called it retaliation.
What is the FBI for when the FBI Director uses it as a personal concierge service and turns it on the people who notice?

Laurence Kotlikoff, a Boston University economist, recently calculated that the United States was in worse shape than Italy once you included Social Security, Medicare and other obligations that don’t appear in the official debt figures. “We don’t have any grown-ups in the room in Washington,” he said. “Nobody picks it up and says, ‘You have a problem.’”
