NEW: On Monday, the entire staff of Rose Lane lost their jobs, days after filing for a union with @rwu_str. The bar and restaurant is located inside Park Lane, where most rooms cost more than $1,000/night. @hikarimaehida and I report for Labor New York https://t.co/CtrPNoWEHm
The Park Lane Hotel's owners today severed the contract with the staffing agency that employs the 20+ workers forming this union, effectively firing the entire bargaining unit, a @rwu_str official tells me.
Most of the other workers in the hotel are unionized with @NYHTC.
The use of a staffing agency in this case is a diversion and a pretext for violating the labor rights of the workers, something that has been experienced by more precarious workers everywhere.
Please share & contribute to the Rose Lane workers’ fund!

Alamo Drafthouse workers won’t let 70 jobs disappear without a fight! After the Trump Admin gutted antitrust protections in 2020, Sony scooped up Alamo and ratcheted up corporate greed — cutting 20% of NYC staff & limiting competitor films. Workers are on strike and standing up to hold Sony accountable!

Such an incredible step towards the future of a unionized restaurant industry! Seeing workers at 5 restaurants come together is huge and a much needed reminder of our power as workers when we fight for the lives we deserve.

Thank you to everyone who joined Lodi workers at the picket 2 weeks ago! We are determined to fight for better conditions in our industry. Please continue to voice your support!
We demand that the company begin negotiating in good faith and avoid an expensive, time-consuming trial!
You can support Lodi workers by commenting “Fair union contract now!” on Lodi’s Instagram [@lodinyc].
We have an important Lodi update!
The NLRB has set the trial for November 12.
Mattos Hospitality is being charged for 38 allegations and the government is seeking a Cemex bargaining order.
We are confident that the trial will result in a victory for Lodi workers.
So the question is: why delay the inevitable?
RWU-STR Local 1 has proposed a modest contract to Mattos Hospitality.
