Many Catholic husbands and fathers today are drifting and discouraged.
On the outside: going to Mass, providing, trying to be present. On the inside: anxious, tired, scattered, and feeling stuck.
If that's you, brother — you're not failing. You've just been fighting alone. 🧵
@TheDailyMrRuiz@Lordoftheringsu I always saw that scene not as Frodo considering letting go in an attempt to save the ring, but rather that he considered letting go simply because he felt so empty without the ring that he was considering suicide - that with the ring gone he felt like his life had no purpose
@anymanfitness Why don’t you just set your monthly mortgage payment to be automatically deducted from your investment account making 8% per year? That way your mortgage is already effectively “paid off” by money compounding at 8% when your mortgage rate is only 2.25%
@AnthonyEsolen I would just add that it’s typically pretty hard for a priest to lose his faith as a first stel. Loss of faith typically begins with moral failures. Cognitive dissonance is painful and most people prefer to change their beliefs to align with their actions
@D_Boyer69@truthseeker4him@MrCasey62 The oral tradition also includes the institutions the Apostles established such as the handing on their ministry through the priesthood and the fact they baptized infants etc
@DaytimePubSmell@darwintojesus Do the birds who freeze to death while perched high on a wire ever once complain about how cold they are? Why should you if all you are is the chance banging up between certain atoms?
@HylomorphicBro@Thomisticae You’re showing quite obviously that you’ve never read the Summa before. Do you not know Thomas structures his arguments by putting the OPPOSITE of what is true in the “objections” section. Face palm
@bdhoward87 @BishopJaxi “The gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” So you’re either saying God is not faithful to his promises or that you designed a Church for yourself but not the one Jesus founded
@bdhoward87 @BishopJaxi What Church? Where is that Church today? Does it look like the Church that Jesus described or is it just some vague invisible conglomerate of “believers” even though many “believers” can’t agree on what it means to believe?
@morethansundays @BishopJaxi So if the Bible doesn’t say that then where does the tradition of “sola scriptura” come from? If it’s not found I. scripture doesn’t that mean that sola scriptura is self-defeating?
@Duke456521 @HamstraRyan @BishopJaxi @Lexie49 Yeah John’s Gospel is just so well known for relaying random trivial irrelevant facts…. Why in the world would he even include that in his Gospel? To brag that Jesus chose him to give his Mothe tor? He wrote it for us BECAUSE he wanted us to know she was for US!
@tovi_lord@Autumn__Fox@catholicpat I understand that differently. Just because the orthodox haven’t defined that doctrine doesn’t necessarily mean they don’t believe it according to a “sensus fidelium”
@tovi_lord@catholicpat In general, when we learn new things about reality it can seem made up. The inner workings of the atom, dna, germ theory can also seem made up. Why can the world progress in knowledge and not the Church? Did not Christ promise us the Spirit who would lead us to all truth?
