@Hybridathlete@Brady_H@MarathonHB Follow the rules or don’t race - you don’t get to pick what parts of sporting rules you care to follow.
Doping and subsequently competing in sanctioned events that prohibit doping is not cool. Do many masters do it? O yea they do. Doesn’t make it ok.
Snack culture for children has gotten completely out of hand. My daughter goes to a one-hour gymnastics class with a break in the middle, and everyone eats snacks during that break.
Since when can't kids do sports for just one hour without needing snacks?
@Roadman_Podcast Come on man, they’re going 30mph forward… when his bike suddenly is forced left, he’s just bringing that same speed across the screen 🙄
There's a phenomenon in running that applies to the rest of the world:
It's the beginner runners who deck themselves out in all the gear. They try to look the part they've been sold.
As they gain experience, they ditch most of the gear. And show up with the basic necessities.
@JasonFitz1 If true, terrible obviously
But, to be fair, those who are not quite as good but think they are often perceive stuff like this. (I was one of these kids until I realized my own issues).
@RebuiltPt@JimGalanes missed the original discussion but if you aren’t triangulating HR-pace/power-RPE as a coach, you’re selling your athlete short IMHO
The OP example @ 150W is just showing what happens when you get clearly outside of your ideal range of pedaling rpm efficiency - not surprising?
@Brady_H Track to make sure you’re eating ENOUGH (protein + overall calories, at minimum) is elite
Tracking with a different mindset can get sketchy quickly
@stevemagness@cremieuxrecueil Be as mobile as your sport demands and be strong in those ranges of motion.
Flexibility is a weird one because people act like it's like every other athletic trait where we would want to continuously improve it. Unless your sport requires it, just be flexible enough.
@HankFrank@maximecperoumal People who are “anti-tracking” of any objective measures are generally people who themselves have not been able to build a healthy, productive relationship with the measures - they need help themselves more than they need to be giving advice to others
People like this are the worst
Takes time, effort, and resources to put a club together that actually provides anything of value
If a club isn’t your thing that’s cool too but don’t complain that it’s not free 🙄
Many elite distance runners have horrible flexibility.
They can't come close to touching their toes.
Why? A stiff spring can be beneficial.
Some research found the worse you do in the sit and reach test, the better your running economy.
