Pitchfork rates J. Cole's 'The Fall-Off' a 5.3 out of 10:
"J. Cole’s greatest album of all time is a double-disc Alexandrian quest to conquer a wide breadth of styles and ideas. It crumples under expectations few records could hope to meet."
You guys are spending your Sunday nights watching grown men fight over a ball.
I’m making cold calls and working on my business plans.
It is SOOO easy to win in this life just by working hard..
Zig when everyone else zags.
wild that after all this time albums still have a structural problem regardless of the artist
everyone hears the first song, then streams decrease track by track
this is what prompted my one song at a time strategy cuz shit gets buried and slept on simply due to the relationship the audience has with albums
- Most of us experience peak music consumption ages 10-25. Everything we like after that is nostalgia or new music that sounds like the music of our heyday
- pods directly compete with music as background media
- Rock, Hip-Hop, Metal, Indie have aging GOATs + less innovation
Is it just me or does music not hit as hard anymore? Used to be such a snob with my playlists and took immense pride in being ultra tapped in. Think this started changing around 2023 ish and now my Spotify minutes continue trending towards all time lows
Idk just feel like most stuff hasn't been that unique or exciting for a while relative to say late 2010's / early 2020's across all genres. Or maybe I'm wrong and there's some greater spiritual shift at play causing me to put more of a premium on silence
The Black Parade tour was really special. Theatrical, bombastic, audience hanging on every word.
Also - I can't stress enough how rare it is to create an album without a single dull moment!
If you know someone looking to get into Brutal Death Metal, you can honestly just point them to anything in the Dying Fetus catalogue. so much quality in there.
Reign Supreme, Destroy the Opposition, and Wrong One are my personal favs though.
yall gotta stop doing this. everyone tho. it hasnt been 10 hours, just let it be what it is. a fun short upbeat urgent braggadocious album to a diary post about abortion and hair and aging and whatever else i was crying about lol......please just let it rock if you rock with it and if you dont then move the damn on lol
My latest exciting Metal discovery: Labyrinthus Stellarum!
Amazing Ukranian Black Metal band - synth-heavy and atmospheric!
