If theatre theory has been described by Marvin Carlson as "statements of general principles regarding the methods, aims, functions, and characteristics of this particular art form," then why haven't we adopted it?

"Money can be spent to infinitely better advantage in the store, than by giving orders at the door, by phone or mail. Every housekeeper knows how large a proportion of the housekeeping money is swallowed up by the butcher's bill..."
- Marion Harris Neil, 1922
I was walking in a park and a kid's basketball came flying over the gated basketball court. I ran to throw it back over and the kid asked if I could "skibidi throw it back" and I don't think I'm ready to handle this
I have been fascinated by how the theater can be "broken" and what the lines between theater and performance art are.
Then I found Artaud
WHY HAS NO ONE TOLD ME ABOUT AURTAUD WHAY DID I HAVE TO FIND HIM ON A WHIM IN THE BACK OF A USED BOOK SHOP OMG
@Csvich Oh man, my first (now thrown out) play was 270 pages before I realized I was spinning my wheels into a 12-foot grave. Did I create the epitome of outsider art or did I not understand the craft, who's to say?
It's so interesting, we're entering a world of—almost—Tin Pan Alley-nouveau musical theater, where hypermodern, temporally local music is being integrated with a story-and-song structure of traditional post-golden age musicals. This is deeply interesting to me...
Does a union rep wanna chime in here because I'm genuinely curious as well; not that I'm in SAG-AFTRA. My gut says "no" because someone becoming a scab without their express knowledge (i.e. filmed without consent or through false pretences) is all the more reason for unions?
@ohemmasue They still have this line? I thought it used to be a thing, but no longer existed! I always liked this idea, it's an analog, slower process that I feel is slightly more intentional than simply googling
@KenzieInABox So it'll only appear like it actually is doxxing them, especially if you sprinkle actual stuff in, but the more horrifying implications are only apparent during the show and don't have lasting implications
@KenzieInABox I mean, you could also give a full address, and direct it at an audience member who has agreed, but the address (which should be disclosed beforehand) leads to an abandoned plot or something like that. If the audience at large is good, they won't, like, Google it during the show
