@StrengthDebates I work w/ a variety of athletes (12-pro) so it depends
I did reframe how I communicate it,we try to hit a heavy single every few weeks. If they feel good we go for 1+ then they can attempt a max. IMO once you say max out to a HS athlete, things get crazy 🤪
ESSR Seniors had an awesome visit to @T3Performance1 last week. Thank you Coach Richmond @ryan_richmond32 for your time, coaching, and advice for our students!!

I think “old school” or out of date training is perpetuated by two things:
1. Coaches are lazy & stubborn - its the easy way to implement what they know
2. Everything gets “results” to a certain degree
Had one of the best experiences meeting with a new high school athletic department today.
ALL of the sport coaches came out to meet.
ALL were attentive.
ALL left their ego at the door.
Some amazing conversations to supercharge my morning!
Parenting has had one of the biggest impacts on how I lead, manage and coach.
Parenting is also one of the hardest things I’ve ever experienced
Highly recommend
Constant message we preach in our program:
Defend the standard, not our feelings.
We will all fall short at some point.
Be courageous to tell someone the truth
Be humble enough to accept the truth
We fight for the standard.
Awesome moment here; 2025 freshman @sudbrookryan gets the call up to Varsity for @baseball_avon and in his first at bat he drops one in front of the right fielder for a single! You can see the joy on his older brothers face, team captain and D1 commit @TroySudbrook#family
“What’s wrong with you?” vs. “Walk me through what happened.”
“How could you do that?” vs. “Help me understand your process?”
“You’re wrong.” vs. “I disagree.”
“Don’t be nervous.” vs. “This is exciting. You’ll feel some nerves, that’s okay.”
How you frame it matters.
Work/team culture can often become toxic when people begin to complain. If you have a complaint, come prepared with a solution.
“If you aren’t lighting any candles, don’t complain about the dark”
