“I don’t consume the method, I consume the product” is actually a pitch perfect summation of how consumerism has permanently damaged how people perceive art
@MidwestHedgie@chachamyeon It's easy to see how this fear develops when love and acceptance in society are conditioned on repressing or commodifying our identities under threat of marginalization & villainization - for love, or gender, or disability, or politics. No wonder it's a common trans experience!
people laugh about Mao writing stuff like "being wrong is bad, being right is good, this is a decisive question for the development of scientific revolutionary culture" but then spend all day being wrong and wondering why things turn out bad.. sorry if you can't take good advice!
@yeselson You don't have to lie to have a complicated love for your home - we can condemn the violence of our past while aspiring to be the family — the country — we were always promised. We can build a bigger future, be a force for good, & lead the world into the post-scarcity era! 💥🦅🇺🇸
@shadmbrooks Stylized animation draws attention to form over detail, emotive expression over rigid but meaningless details. It helps construct those stories, gives them innocence & weight & stillness & fluidity & life; those stories, we agree, give that style meaning. AI Art lacks intention!
@wasphyxiation This would mesh well with the recent "Millennials are an aberrant tech-literate generation" hot take going around - we all excel with the emergent technologies of our youths, from the times when we maintained our curiosity & neuroplasticity through consistent education.
@ashleyxxdancer This sucks and you should be able to take off but the problem isn't happening because Easter is Christian - it's because your manager has power over you & the company has power over you both, and it cares more about profits than about your beliefs. This is why we need unions!
@g0thgoblin Coming out of seasonal depression means more dog walks and hegel and stats which is doing wonders for the regular ol depression bc I'm a huge nerd
@hitlerplssaveus @StrattonCairo @Oilfield_Rando The opinions of Nazis, even ironic ones, are worth less than nothing because they fundamentally devalue human life outside of their imagined ingroup. Eliminating the right to due process & the goal of restorative justice for immigrants means eliminating it for us all. Fuck off.
@Rocko64_@BridgeJungle Sure, images were previously a more reliable form of information than text, & now they are not. Regulating misinfo means regulating AI
As for art, the value is in the meaning we give it. I value emotionality & intentionality, which can be conveyed by people but not yet by AI, so
@TheAvatarofSet@DavidSelling@nollywoodstemme Many people "of the sex normally associated with them" (cis) do use for the cosmetic reasons, and many trans people take them for medical reasons. If your body is not the way you want it to be, and we have the power to fix it, we should!
@ZaidJilani True and important but also we shouldn't have immigration officials harassing/abducting anyone. We need a legal system that treats everyone with safety & dignity. Violence against anyone acting non-violently should not be the state's prerogative!
@twinkdefcon In some cases it's inherently exploitative to at least some degree, like with minors & adults or employers & employees, and in some cases everyone is just equally capable of making their own choices ✌️
@twinkdefcon Meaningful relationships make us vulnerable to change, which is of course the whole point. Our systems should make sure it's purely voluntary & there are protections as need, but individuals should get to make their own choices as long as they don't exploit that vulnerability
