Under Trump's executive order, every single person in America is now legally classified as female.
All embryos begin by developing female sex organs, with male sex organs only replacing them at around 6 weeks of gestation.
Biden should go all out on climate for the next 75 days.
Declare a climate emergency. Get all the IRA money out the door. Permit new transmission lines. Stop new LNG exports. Ban drilling on public lands.
Make a mountain of progress for Trump to try and undo.
@alerizzo_@HirokiSayama All true and good points. But underlying assumption is academia employment. Seems feasible to establish independent research groups capable of attracting/winning donations, grants, investment, etc. (Even for non-industry/applied research.) Am I delusional in that thinking?
@HirokiSayama The journal system is so antiquated at this point the slow pace is puzzling, but 🤷🏻♂️.
Out of curiosity, hypothetically, what would you do instead of traditional science?
Reflects the dual nature of Twitter beast. Apparent primary views: Tech - just a Musk engineering & entrepreneurial endeavor; Media: it’s social experimentation & “figuring it out” = negative impacts. Must get both right. Not sure Musk grasps criticality of human factors.
The difference in Twitter drama perception between media and tech people I talk to is stunning. Media: “illegal”, “death spiral”, “bankruptcy”, “incompetent”. Tech: “he bought it, he can do what he wants”, “he is cleaning ship”, “twitter will be great”, “Elon is figuring it out”.
Lot of recently jobless people with engineering, finance, management and communication skills could not only do good but do *well* in booming climate/sustainability/ruggedization enterprises and efforts.
Helping folks make that pivot seems like a pretty great thing to do.
Maybe it's just semantics, but I don't think you can draw a clear distinction between "understanding" and "intelligence". If you understand a task or a thing, then you possess intelligence with regard to that particular bit of the universe. It's the same concept.
I am so so sorry to hear that the brilliant Herman Daly - founding father of ecological economics - has died. His paradigm-changing work flipped my little econ head inside out & inspired me to write a book on rewriting economics… Here are just some of his big ideas 1/n.
@Plinz@_andreaswacker People seem to miss that Musk is brilliant at monetizing tech in short term he needs in longer term & all bets are intertwined. Boring Co is for Mars shelter. Cybertruck = Mars rover. Solar, batteries, Optimus = Earth & Mars. AI, Neuralink = solve probs faster. SpaceX = obvious.
I read a lot of books for my podcast & blog.
But often I can't finding the particular passage I'm looking for.
Ctrl-F doesn't work unless you know the exact phrase.
So I built search for ebooks using OpenAI's embeddings API.
Link below to use.
Works surprisingly well!
Users should be able to mark any item in the Explore > For You section as ‘Not Interested’. I’m ‘Not Interested’ in most of what shows up there. @elonmusk@Twitter
@pwang Should the word ‘Intuitions’ be ‘Institutions’? I see intuition as an ability to analyze a novel scenario by generalizing from existing knowledge, i.e. adaptation. But institutional credentials do tend to reflect info absorption vs creative, generative abilities.
