A few months ago, a high profile paper in Science claimed to find that researchers' ideology produced biased results in favour of immigration.
A reanalysis of the data finds that result came from a coding error, which once corrected, shows no effect.
Will people who shared that original finding update their views?

How about if you want space you buy it like an honorable, red-blooded American instead of using the state to steal your neighbors’ property rights like a filthy commie
@mungowitz I’m an economist, I don’t understand “fair.” I think it is socially desirable to push people out of homes with taxes if they would not rent their current home if they were first forced to sell it, both at market rates.
I basically agree with this ranking by @jmhorp
@mungowitz Don't most public finance economists view them primarily as a land value tax, and only secondarily a tax on the structures sitting on top of them?
"Neoliberalism" now also means "not subsidizing the shit out of oil," which is um, fact check: true, but does the hard left really want to lean that much into "we should subsidize the shit out of oil"?
This is what Bolivia's highways look like at the moment.
Each town & village blocks their stretch, and the union members in each community take turns at the barricades. This is part of the general strike against neoliberalism. Now entering week 3.
@mungowitz Apparently bad faith complaints about workplace safety was smarter and more nefarious than it looked. It’s illegal to retaliate against someone for complaining about workplace safety when they are bullshitting, which isn’t true of other complaints
When I was a kid, every Republican primary was a battle between a Chamber of Commerce wife-and-kids guy who wanted to bomb random countries and a cranky old dentist wife-and-kids guy who was really into the Constitution and "sound money." Now I have no idea what is going on.
@BenSchifman Three is already on the cusp of "market power doesn't matter" (we usually draw the line at four), and you're implying one can probably piece it together outside of those three, and this is now a case for nationalization?
