You saw Antigravity launch this week. Now, imagine if there were a browser-based IDE that combined the best of Antigravity and Firebase Studio.
Yes, the team is going through some turn-over as we realign the strategy, but this isn’t the end of the line for Firebase Studio.
It’s just the calm before the upgrade.
Keith Ballinger is a true developer's developer. His Conductor framework (timestamp 12:30) provides a sweet, AI-driven workflow to iterate from idea to spec to code. Aether (timestamp 16:55) is a bit more ambitious; it's a programming language designed to be highly specific and unambiguous for LLMs. Not coincidentally, the Aether programming was built with Conductor and Gemini CLI.
When it comes to AI, says Keith Ballinger of @Google, developers need to slow down to speed up the process: write clear guides for AI agents, focus on architecture and create a project plan. https://t.co/Awq6D1E8K3
MCP++ 🧐 Yup. That checks out.
Gemini CLI extensions augment MCP to provide custom instructions so integrators pair tools (API calls) with prompts describing how those tools should be used by the agent. Custom slash commands also enable developers to invoke specific tool+instruction combinations.
@xeraa, where should we take extensions next? I'm thinking... fine-grained permissions for tool calling, and maybe a better security boundary between MCPs.
Perhaps more than any other feature, Gemini CLI devs have asked for higher limits with Google AI Pro and Ultra – especially with Gemini 2.5 Pro. We heard you. Make those tokens rain! ☂️ https://t.co/QAeQWL0tuP
The 2025 DORA report released today. To produce it, we surveyed 5,000 technology professionals and held 100+ hours of interviews. It was a HUGE effort. It’s a compendium of knowledge, but 3 insights stood out to me:
🤖 90% of developers now use AI in their work (+14% from 2024). This confirms what we all suspected: AI is everywhere.
⚖️ 31% of developers have low trust in AI. Call me paranoid, but I think this is pretty close to the “right” number. After all, we build better safeguards when we expect things to break.
🕵️ 61% of developers have never used an AI agent. Autonomous AI may be just over the horizon. But for most folks, it’s simply not part of their toolkit yet.
Explore the findings and our new blueprint to help teams navigate these heady times. After all, we’re all learning together.

The Gemini CLI maintainers are stopping all work today to focus on reviewing community PRs and triaging issues. If you see a PR or issue you care about being closed with a message from us, please don't hesitate to comment with additional context, a reproducible example, or rally more community feedback. Your engagement makes a huge difference. 🙌

I love the folks at @zeddotdev so much. ❤️ If you haven't tried it, Zed is possibly the world's best code editor for speed and collaboration. We approached them a few weeks ago looking for an opportunity to collaborate, and together we dreamed up this integration that treats the Zed as a remote agent for Gemini CLI. Among other things, you can:
- Take your Gemini CLI (Code Assist) quota with you to Zed
- Follow Gemini CLI in Zed as it makes edits
- Ask Gemini CLI questions about logs and errors in Zed
This won't be the end of our collaboration. It's one heck of a beginning. Thanks, Frederic Lardinois at @thenewstack for chatting with us and sharing with the world.

A PSA for all our CLI weekend warriors and Sunday fun-day vibe coders. Gemini CLI is a powerful tool. Use the safeguards:
🏝️ gemini --sandbox for isolated work
↩️ gemini --checkpointing for an easy "undo" option
If you’re gonna YOLO, make sure you use both.
@codewithimanshu@GoogleCloudTech@github Good news! In the first 3 weeks alone, the community has contributed:
- 710 issues opened + 312 closed per week
- 320 PRs opened + 120 merged per week
We're doing our best to acknowledge first time contributors in every public release. https://t.co/o3b1IkBIwA
@edandersen@rseroter@googlecloud It's not for lack of desire. We've just be so dang focused on building good DX that we haven't solved all the bundling challenges.
> npm install -g @google/gemini-cli
Our open source and (gulp) free AI agent is now available in your terminal. Not just for developers, but for builders and creators too. https://t.co/Mnd2iCPVGS
I’ll be honest with you. Our @googlecloud Gemini Code Assist was useful, but with too many rough edges. My DevRel team, along with product, engineering, and even @ThomasOrTK had enough. So we’ve spent months removing friction from it.
It’s not perfect, but it’s better! A 🧵:
@GoogleCloud_UKI 2/2 It's a tool to extend and amplify our own abilities, accelerating creativity by reducing the time + skill required. And yet, the most impactful thing I do each week is write a list of goals with pen and paper. The intent is what matters most.
@GoogleCloud_UKI 1/2 The printing press, mechanical loom, and synthesizer each changed the means of production for disseminating ideas, producing clothing, and music, respectively. I personally see continuity with AI.
Are you letting #AI make decisions? We’d love to know. Ryan J. Salva from Google Cloud shares how he firmly believes we need to dictate its role. Share your thoughts below - where are you drawing the lines on AI? ⤵️
