@mccabe_corinne Creativity and content knowledge are not opposites, but are directly dependent on one another. Without content knowledge, creativity has nothing to build upon. Without creativity, content knowledge can never develop into divergent or convergent thinking. #FosteringCreativityEdu

@docstudent21 @mccabe_corinne I agree with that higher education provides greater educational freedom and more opportunity to drive creativity. However, this is a foundational literacy and if it's not instilled in K12, we missed the boat... #fosteringcreativityedu

@mccabe_corinne Find the balance between standardized testing (teaching to the test) and fostering creative thinking. Our educational system can have both, but is currently crippled by the ideology that they are mutually exclusive concepts. #fosteringcreativityedu

@docstudent21 @mccabe_corinne But the process is key. Creativity is about trial and failure. Discouraging ownership of ideas is should be equally as important as driving innovation. Baer & Garrett (2010) potentially speak to this point.

@mccabe_corinne While I do believe creativity is in some form an inherent or natural ability in some individuals, I feel the the process can be exercised (such in the case of divergent-thinking) to enhance any individual's ability. Jager (2016) addresses the beneficial opportunities of practice
